Benghazi discharge petition announced, Stockman to force action on Benghazi investigation

Jul 17, 2013 Press Release

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX 36) will seek to force a vote in Congress on creating a select committee to investigate the Obama administration’s handling of the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Following the cancellation of a House hearing this week on the Benghazi attacks, Rep. Stockman announced his intention to file a discharge petition to force a vote on Rep. Frank Wolf’s H. Res. 36, which would establish a Select Committee to investigate the Benghazi attacks.

“Congressman Wolf has fearlessly led the fight for justice on this issue. The whole nation owes Congressman Wolf a deep debt of gratitude. Some House Democrats now appear to be openly interfering with the investigation and intimidating witnesses, which only raises more questions about the White House’s involvement,” said Stockman. “The only way we’re going to get a clean and thorough investigation is by forcing a vote with a discharge petition.”

The House Foreign Affairs Committee, of which Rep. Stockman is a member, had originally scheduled a hearing, entitled “Benghazi: Progress on State Department Accountability,” for Thursday, July 18 at 10 a.m.

According to Rep. Wolf, a Select Committee is the only way to effectively conduct an investigation the attacks.

If 218 House members, a majority of the chamber, sign the discharge petition H. Res. 36 would be recalled from committee and considered on the floor.

C'mon, 0bama.. Running out the clock on this one too, huh? The ONE YEAR anniversary is coming and we STILL have no accountability over Benghazi.

I think Eric Holder should investigate 0bama for violating the civil rights of the four white men who were abandoned to die by their black Commander-In-Chief.

Boehner? Someone presented him with a manila folder full of incriminating Emails, photos, phone calls, text messages, receipts, etc., diligently gathered by the NSA at the behest of 0bama/Holder. Blackmailed into Inaction, he is.

Any GOP House member who does not support this discharge petition should be thrown out of office next year. Tell your Congress critter this in no uncertain terms: You shouldn’t be able to murder four government employees by dereliction of duty and get away with it, even if you are Sec. of State and President.

Is the video guy still in jail?

Yes, he is. I read a blurb on this a few days ago, and AFAIK, there is something coming up in September, but I forget what exactly, as for type of hearing or the next step in the process...

Is this just messing with Issa’s investigation?
Does Issa’s commitee have too much on it’s plate?

I want all these scandals investigated, but I think it is too much to be handled by one commitee. The work needs to be divided.
