In a recent political development that could only be called unexpected, Newsmax has learned that Rep. Peter King (R-NY), past chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is being encouraged by friends in and outside the Empire State to seek the Republican nomination for president in 2016.
Several of those friends told us that the popular Republicanwho turned 69 in April and is now in his 11th term as congressman from New Yorks Third Districthas returned the show of support in a presidential bid with a strong maybe.
King, one of the Houses most vocal national security advocates, is said to be concerned about the declining preparedness situation and economic malaise he sees the nation facing after two terms of President Obama.

Bubble boy that started screeching for laws to protect congressmen from their constituents after the Giffords shooting.
I doubt I’d remember to vote that day. Might be painting the walls of the home bathrooms or something.....
I don’t hold that authoritarian creep in very high esteem!
Not a chance.
Another candidate who will go nowhere.
Is there going to be another presidential election?
There are hundreds of people that run for POTUS every presidential election cycle. All you have to do is register to become an official candidate. Many do, just so they can say they ran for president. I see Peter Kings bid running along these same lines.
Give me Trey Gowdy.
Please don’t, Mr. King. You’ll merely divide the primary vote so Jeb can slip through the cracks and become the nominee.
What a joke. He was too scared to challenge Hillary.
Yes. Hillary must be crowned. Although the crazy left wants that woman Senator from Massachusetts....lol.
Is he a gun grabber?
Yep, this is my Congressman. The same guy who castigated fellow Republicans for trying to CUT PORK from the Hurricane Sandy relief bill for Long Island (that was laden with non-Sandy related goodies for such states as Alaska and Maryland).
That would make the ira exceedingly happy.
The only votes King will get is Rino votes, which would hurt Rino
Jeb Clampett Bush in the primary. I say run King, run.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
He doesn’t see it yet. But it could be his.
The majority of the States are fed up with politicians from the Northeast and so-called Mid-West areas East of the Mississippi River (IL, PA, etc.).
I like his stance against Islamic terrorism but that is probably all I like. Some things I have read and seen from him I can say I disagree. So he is not right for the job. He is from the wrong state too so I doubt he is a rock solid conservative.
I think he is a gun grabber. I thought I read Peter King was in support of Toomey-Manchin.
King is a supporter of the Irish Republican Army, who have been traditional allies with Islamic terrorists. That makes King’s true stance on Islamic terror unknown, and his public stance thereof dishonest, FWICS.
Mo, gun grabbers should be locked up.
Yet another politician who would be turned down for any job that required a security clearance.
