“Those who were against the war were right”

We will just have to agree to disagree on that. I found that opposition to the Vietnam War came from 3 types of people: 1) those like some of my friends who did not want to be drafted; 2) Marxist radicals who wanted to use the War as a platform to start their own ‘revolution’ (some of whom, alas, are still in politics); 3) a small number of idealists who disapproved of the violence.

Were you there and then? Which were you?

Government corruption is an old, old problem, but does not render government illegitimate by itself.

Incorrect again. You're clearly isolated or just plain ignorant.

Got some questions for ya Mr. Vietnam Vet. BTW, they don't require wordy evasive responses...

In just the past 30 years or so, government has intentionally aided and abetted a historic epic flood of tens of millions entering illegally... Americans have voted, protested, petitioned, demanded and screamed for relief and secure borders to end this massive illegal invasion...

Govenrment has done nothing but reward them with tax dollars offer amnesty and provide them with tax paid dollars

No?

A government that refuses to secure and protect it's own legitimate borders and sovereignty, will itself eventually become illegitimate. No?

It would be like a government destroying it's economy by intentionally flooding the country with tens of hundreds of billions in counterfeit currency.....

Oh wait...Has the corrupt government not done this too?

When and where did you serve?

Unlike you, I don't wear my military experience on my sleeve..With corrupt, controlling government now seizing our records, monitor and spying on law abiding citizens, I try to keep my private business off the Internet as much as possible.

We will just have to agree to disagree on that.

You think that war was worth losing 58,000 young Americans? Why Am I not surprised by your position here?

I found that opposition to the Vietnam War came from 3 types of people: 1) those like some of my friends who did not want to be drafted

Oh, you're talking about the nearly 18,000 draftees that died in combat? You wanted more dead? Some didn't want to be shipped off to some jungle in Asia in a country which was absolutely no threat to the U.S.? What a shock.

I know at least 3 that came back in boxes. Another good friend survived but took shrapnel to the eye, which popped his eyeball out of his head, dangling down..They just snipped off the optic nerve in the field.

Tell me, since China and the Soviet Union extensively aided North Vietnam during the war, why not attack them too? What's up with that? In fact, corrupt government now sees Communist China as their great trading partner...

How screwed up is that Mr. Vietnam Vet? What do ya think the dead would say to you now?

So everyone who did not support the war/police action in Vietnam was a radical?

Get real, Mr. Vietnam.

Again, you did not read my posts either carefully or accurately. Nor did you even attempt to answer my questions, nor refute my points.

I am beginning to get a whiff of troll, here.

Since, if you served in any of the armed services, the federal and your state government already has your records, your reluctance to discuss, or even affirm, your service implies that you have none to state. We started out expressing our views on the effectiveness of the National Guard as a domestic force, as it is charged in the Constitution, to ‘defend against invasion, to suppress insurrection, and to enforce the law.’ I stated my background to illuminate the basis for my views. You seem to have taken it as a personal affront. I appologise for that, I did not mean, at the time, to imply anything negative; I just wanted to know on what you based your opinion. But now I am starting to wonder.

I have answered you at length because I think the questions you raised deserved reasonable examination of the matters involved. I have received snide remarks and name calling in return. Not everybody has to agree with your opinions, and as I have said before, we will just have to agree to disagree. Or refer it to the Moderators.

You completely evaded all the question in #62 and 63....lol

BTW, this isn’t about me or my personal background...

Feel free to take a shot at the numerous questions you’ve evaded, all of which were based on your own comments
