In every democratic country in the world, law-abiding citizens have the right to defend themselves, when they are being subjected to violent attack. When the shooting was initially reported to the police, the cops took one look at Zimmerman's injuries, and they realized that they did not have evidence to take the case to trial.
The outcome of the trial was predictable. But, now, the Justice Department wants to put Zimmerman on trial afresh, for civil rights violations. Sen. Harry Reid is supporting calls for Zimmerman's prosecution: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/14/naacp-asking-obama-administration-to-pursue-zimmerman-civil-case/
Is America still a free and democratic country?
Of the DoJ manages to have Zimmerman convicted for something, America is finished. Time would then be appropriate for Americans to seek refugee status in freer nations such as Venezuela, Russia, Turkey and Egypt.
No. But the post-trial Inquisition by the 0bama Department of Racist Justice does.
No, shows trails are scripted right to the conclusion.
In some ways,yes...in others,no.Communist show trials never featured juries and they never resulted in a “not guilty” verdict.
You mean like the fast and furious hearings, Benghazi, IRS, NSA and other hearings?
You mean like how the perpetrators of all these things investigate themselves and never seem to be able to find anything wrong?
You mean like the publicized trials of almost every white person who fires a gun for any cause?
Yup.
I lived in China for years, and always wondered how the madness of the Cultural Revolution occurred.
I realize that such madness can happen in varying degrees, among any people. I believe there are certain key conditions in society and politics which must be fulfilled - and the USA is generally moving towards, not away from, such trends.
Well in at least one respect no.
In the classic Stalinist show trial the trial did not begin until the accused had been broken and was ready to admit his crimes against the people.
Thankfully we have not yet come to that point.
Certainly it was a show trial that back fired on them.
Harry Reid is a Dolt.
Even the pork he lays on Nevada cannot be worth the fact that Harry Reid is a disgrace to the State.
At least one engine and cars hopped the tracks during this fiasco.
The cops saw it for what it was ... a run-of-the-mill gangsta death by an armed citizen.
I don't know whom was first .. zero or Corey, but the TWO OF THEM conspired to start a race war in America.
The word is out, stop shoot'n y'sef's an' shoot cracka's
it kind of reminded me of some trial in a Muslim nation where a Christian is accused of blasphemy, and the mobs and everyone is demanding they are punished.
A little prosecution of Harry could be of benifit to us all.
zimmerman was not supposed to win.
zimmerman was not supposed to have real legal counsel, only fresh out of law school easily intimidated public defenders.
the jurry was supposed to assume he would go away for little bit not 10-20-life (that was a secret)
this was supposed to reopen the abulance chaser floodgates to jackpot suits
this was supposed to make self defense a criminal act.
truth does not work for the race baiters or this regime.
I agree. It was a show trial right up to the time the six jury members went into deliberation. For some reason, they left the reservation. Why? That I do not know, but I suspect the Government thought (mistakenly) that these women had for sure got the correct message. Apparently they had not!
Matched by soviet journalism.
I wonder sometimes how it is that good people I know can be so wrong about things, and then I realize that if you get your news from the headlines of the “mainstream” soviet media, you have no chance of being right.
Yes, it was a show trial. But no, we’re not finished if they win this skirmish...
No, the accused was acquitted.
You are so correct. The prosecution failed to inform the jury of the required verdict. The American Police State is in its infancy, they are learning, mistakes will be made..........
This time. It was a show trial until it was handed to the jury. I believe it is possible the next time that part will be scripted as well.
Karma
Barack Hussein Obama, a man with no record of personal accomplishment, no leadership experience, and a man with strong connections to terrorists, criminals, racists, and anti-American Communists pulled it off and was re- elected President of these United States. What does this re-election mean and what does it say about the American people? Could it be that karma will finally bestow the consequences of dishonorable behavior on the American people?
Why do I say this? In answer to my question, let me remind you of this statement and where these words took the American people:
“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”
John Fitzgerald Kennedy Inaugural address, Friday, January 20, 1961
With these words ringing in our ears, my generation went to Vietnam and promised the Vietnamese people we would stand shoulder to shoulder with them until their freedom was secure and the enemies of liberty were defeated. But, it is to America’s eternal shame and disgrace that the American people soon grew tired of this noble undertaking and betrayed the very people who had believed and trusted us.
The American people elected Democrats to our Congress who had rather see American soldiers killed and our country defeated than allow a Republican president to receive credit for defeating our enemies. This Democrat led Congress (the infamous 93rd) cut off funding for the Vietnam War and forced the withdrawal of American combat troops in 1973, but we departed with the hollow promise that we would return if the Republic of South Vietnam was invaded by communist North Vietnam. As everyone must remember, this, again, was a lie.
The tactic we had taught the South Vietnamese was to, when invaded by the North, fall back to a defendable position, stall the communist advance, force the communists to mass their forces before South Vietnam’s defenses, and this would allow time for American forces and air power to return to assist them as we had promised. South Vietnam did just that; for twelve days, outnumbered ten to one, the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) held and stalled the communist’s advance outside Saigon near a little town called Xuan Loc.
Outside Xuan Loc during April 1975, in an effort as gallant as that of the Spartans at Thermopylae, the ARVN 18th Infantry Division held two North Vietnamese Army Corps at bay for twelve days. Every infantryman in the ARVN 18th Infantry Division died in that stand. None ran away and none survived. They died to a man fighting overwhelming odds and believing to the end we Americans would return as promised.
Just before the last ARVN soldier of the 18th Infantry Division died, he might have rolled over on his back and looked to the sky hoping to see the contrails of American B-52 bombers and he saw nothing. This last ARVN soldier then knew that he, along with all the Vietnamese people, had been betrayed. With his dying breath, this soldier must have then turned his gaze heavenly and beseeched God to Damn America.
Yes, there is such a thing as karma where dreadful consequences are meted out in recompense for dishonorable behavior. The American people’s just rewards for abandoning a valiant ally during their time of need could have been that the chickens came home to roost on the American people with an Obama Presidency, a Nancy Pelosi Congress, a Harry Reid Senate, a John Roberts Supreme Court, and it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving people.
The election of 2008 and re-election of 2012 was about more than just Obama, his arrogance, his empty resume, and his traitorous comrades. Just as karma provides consequences for dishonorable behavior, there are also adverse consequences for irresponsible behavior. As a people deserve the government they vote into office, they also deserve the consequences resulting from that government’s actions or inaction. The consequences of a government not securing a country’s borders is that a people will lose their country as we are now losing ours to an invasion of illegal immigrants. The consequences of not securing a country’s electoral processes to prevent voter fraud is the country will lose its Democracy to a Thugocracy as we have lost ours to a Chicago mob run Coup d’état.
But the final insult to our Democratic Republic is with the election of Barack Hussein Obama, an avowed Marxist Communist, a significant chapter in American History finally closed. Our sixty-odd year long Cold War with Communism is over and the Communists have won the war.
These words precede those of President Kennedy, so no one can say we didnt see this coming:
“We cannot expect the Americans to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of Socialism until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism.”
Nikita Khrushchev, 1959
As we Americans continue to live out the old Chinese curse, “May you live in interesting times.”

I do not understand how they can be talking about civil rights violations and a prosecution for that.
The FBI report shows that Zimmerman is clearly not any sort of racist. He tutored black kids in his spare time. He was part of a protest of alleged police misconduct against a black homeless man. And for what it’s worth, he reportedly is a Democrat and voted for Obama.
Liberals have bizarre thought processes. And among the bizarre things are that they can’t seem to grasp that:
1. The accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
2. The prosecution has the responsibility to prove their case in a court of law.
3. If there was any profiling of Trayvon Martin, it was because he was acting strangely, not because he was black.
4. Zimmerman was beaten badly. Liberals minimize the extent of his injuries, and also dismiss the fact that a witness saw Trayvon on top beating him up.
5. Liberals can’t seem to grasp that, the law was applied here, in that, Zimmerman was defending himself, had a gun, and used it in what was a life and death situation.
6. Liberals can’t believe that the jury actually applied the law, saw that this wasn’t really a murder case, saw that there was reasonable doubt of the events leading to the shooting, and based on that doubt, rendered a verdict of not guilty. Liberals seem to think that because an allegedly innocent black boy was killed, that it means it was murder, and someone has to be punished. Tragically, errors and accidents happen, and liberals can’t seem to grasp that.
7. The biggest error was Trayvon starting a fight with Zimmerman. Liberals say that Zimmerman started things because he was following Trayvon, even if Trayvon did throw the first punch. Liberals have a different view of things. The boy is dead, so someone has to pay, in their view.
The purpose of show trials is to scare the population by showing them what heppens whent the state wants to come after you
Zimmerman was innocent and they know it, but they STILL acheived the same effect of scaring the population by putting an innocent man through the wringer, just to show they can.
THAT is the biggest take-away from the Zimmerman kangaroo court.
And that hideous prosecutor (Corey) with he cheshire-cat smile after she LOST was the face you should see in your nightmares
I get the feeling liberals really want mob rule versus the rule of law.
There has not been a single society that has ever prospered under mob rule.
I might add:
this was supposed to lead to banning guns.
More like Barnum amd Bailey.
Oooooookay...
Does the Zimmerman Case Remind You of a Communist Show Trial run by incompetents??
It was a fair trial so it was not what you described. It’s true that there was never enough evidence to even bring charges but once it got to the courtroom, the system worked quite well.
The news media tried to make it more than it was but it didn’t work when it got to the jury.
Oh this one was. No time between jury selection and trial for depositions, constant hectoring of the Defense to “move along”, at least three reminders to the Defense on July 3 that the Prosecution wanted to wrap up their case that day, the unprecedented walk-out during the Defense request for time to depose a witness, the “tell” that a Judgement Of Acquittal would not be given after the Prosecution’s case (because the “please don’t riot” meeting was scheduled for three days later), etc.
The trains had to run on time so the trial would be done before the NAACP convention started, to give Holder his perfect national audience to announce Show Trial Part Two.
Indeed. I recall that at least three potential jurors were unmasked during jury selection as having obvious pro-prosecution bias, and at least two of the eventual jurors survived the prosecution’s bid to have them struck because they were white.
It doesn’t matter if they can convict him of anything. They can just keep harrying him with bullczhit charges and make his life hell whether there is anything they can pin on him or not.
I think that’s the idea.
The very definition of a weaponized justice dept.
There ya go, excellent description. Let’s hope they don’t learn from their mistakes.
They won't. Learning requires an admission of ignorance, a desire to know more.
In their minds they have already achieved perfection, no need to learn, only to teach.
Besides, the persecution prosecution was perfect, the flaw was in the jury...
good people seek the truth.
those born with critical thinking skills are able to discern facts.
“The first Matrix was quite naturally perfect; it was a work of art, flawless, sublime. A triumph equaled only by its monumental failure. The inevitability of its doom is apparent to me now as a consequence of the imperfection apparent in every human being.”
that sounds just about right
The communists are now running the Gov’t, what would you expect?
No. Zimmerman was found innocent.
If the judge had issues a “direct verdict” or guilty or something like that, it would have been a show trial.
In some sense it’s WORSE than a show trial. Sure the outcome was not scripted as has been pointed out by others.
But what the genius of the American system has always been the separation of powers of 3 co-equal branches of government. There are numerous examples of this. Hussein has already turned congress into a parody of its former self. Now he’s well on the way to do this with the judicial branch (the obamacare Roberts flip and now this). Also various other institutions have been and are being coopted such as the military, law enforcement, what have you.
No the outcome wasn’t scripted but our laws, our institutions, our constitution, our most cherished freedoms of equal protection under the law are swiftly being cut out from under us.
I say it’s worse.
With the amount of pressure put on the judge prosecutes etc, I was stunned an honest decision was handed down. But evil people learn from their mistakes. Expect them to attack the jury system - or the whole legal system next. It's not over for that side until they win.
Wonderful! Thank you.
Pundits on the Left and the Right have said that this trial demonstrates that the system is broken.
I would disagree whole heartedly. It is not the system that s broken it is the people in the system that are broken.
States Attorney Corey is broken. The Governor with out a spine Scott is broken. Judge Debra Nelson is broken.
All of these people have at some point have mislaid their moral compass or forgotten what their primary duty as public servants is; to protect and serve the rights of the individual citizen.
The left wants to destroy the legal system we have... it gets in the way of their lust for power.
With regard to show-trials, the Zimmerman Trial is more of what a playwright might call foreshadowing - what appears a harmless well-intentioned gesture in the first act becomes a blood-drenched tragedy in the final act.
The real show-trials are yet to come, and there will be blood!
