DOJ Won’t Give Back Zimmerman’s Gun
PJ Tatler ^ | July 18, 2013 | Bryan Preston

Let’s step back and take a long, hard look at what Eric Holder’s Justice Department is doing right now.

George Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting of Trayvon Martin. He has no further business in court with the state of Florida and is a free man.

Rather than accept the jury’s verdict, Holder’s DOJ convened a conference call with several left-wing groups to plot a course to continue harassing Zimmerman. With FBI agents on the call, Holder sought information from those groups to help build a case.

Do those groups know Zimmerman or have any personal knowledge of the case that was not presented in the trial? It’s extremely unlikely that they do.

Holder’s DOJ is also releasing an email address to which people are being exhorted to send tips about George Zimmerman, again, to build a case against him.

Did George Zimmerman rob a bank? Did he shoot an airplane out of the sky? Did he bring a building down?

No. He was acquitted by a jury in a fair court trial.

But the United States Department of Justice is focusing on this one man, who has been put through due process and acquitted in a court of law.

Today, we learn that the United States Department of Justice is ordering the state of Florida to break its own law.

The state case against Zimmerman is over. He won. He is entitled under Florida law to assume custody of any of his property that the state seized in the process of prosecuting him.

Holder says no, he can’t have it.....

The 5th amendment applies to the Federal Government, not to the states. However, the Supreme Court has held that most Bill of Rights protections were “incorporated” into the 14th amendment due process clause & therefore apply to the states through the 14th.

I never said that, I was only telling you why he hasn’t had his property returned to him as he should have.

no, that was my first thought too.
that being said, the feds will back out in a couple of years, and leave Florida holding the hot potato while claiming any costs are totally at Florida's expense... cause Florida did not obey their own law and return the gun as the law specifies....
so for the chance GZ sues, and the possible chance GZ sue's the feds (will take years to resolve) and Obama and holder get to play with the press and the republican critters....
too many possibilities, and O walks with another win,,, will the MSM follow up on any of this?

This is a no cost to O game with a huge chance to only win 'cause no one will hole his feet to the fire.

Why are you in such a hurry to hustle Mr. Zimmerman out of the country?

Stand your ground!

Im not

I just want him to have the right to go if he needs to..

do you want him to remain a prisoner in his own cou ntry where Holder and Obama can have him killed by their goons at any time ???

or do you want him to make his own choices if the need arises ???

Do we know for sure that Zimmerman hasn’t already gotten his gun back? I’d think that would be something his lawyers would have demanded right after the acquittal. Why wouldn’t he have gotten ALL his personal property returned to him immediately? Or at least by noon on the Monday after the verdict to allow for the evidence locker’s closure over the weekend.

Let’s see if Gov. Scott, who started this mess, will step up for the rule of law.

Speaking of RAT bastard coward Gov Scott, what is his take on the jury acquital of GZ? I suspect Gov Scott is also not abiding by the jury decision in light of Angela Corey's post trial histronics & slander against GM calling him a "murderer" even though the jury said otherwise.

If Gov Scott had any balls at all, he would hold a press conf, declare this whole sorry fiasco over & done with, terminate Angela Corey, and commit round the clock state trooper protection for GM. And then sit back and enjoy the liberal & racist heads exploding. What a pandering coward Gov Scott is!

***Today, we learn that the United States Department of Justice is ordering the state of Florida to break its own law.***

Let's see if Pam Bondi, Jeb Bush, et. al., will shamelessly fold like a cheap suit once again. No reason to think they won't.

The DOJ has absolutely no jurisdiction. The man was found innocent, and thus has the right to retain his gun.

Somebody in Florida, please loan a gun to George until he gets his own back. I would!

“his lawful property”

Your damned right! I expect his defense team may still be de-compressing, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a letter next week promising a writ for replevin along with a promise of a conversion suit with a demand for attorney fees, treble damages and whatever other damages allowed by the great state of Florida.
The ferals are out of control on the subject of George Zimmerman.
First, malicious prosecution and now this! It’s almost time to bring them some pain.
Go get ‘em George!

He needs the gun so that it can be sold to Mexican drug traffickers in Mexico. The government could use the money, and the funding for this sort of thing has dried up because of the sequester and all of that nasty negative publicity...

Zimmerman was innocent but he handled himself badly in the incident. His clumsiness made the situation deadly.

The 5th amendment applies to the Federal Government, not to the states.

And the DOJ is federal government.

However, the Supreme Court has held that most Bill of Rights protections were “incorporated” into the 14th amendment due process clause & therefore apply to the states through the 14th.

I rather hate “incorporation” — it's some magical operation used to subdue the States. Consider the 1st Amendment, it is quite cleat that it applies to Congress, most states don't have a congress but incorporation makes the text magically change into 'legislature' and then applied to the states.

I guess you mean Rubio. Actually, I didn’t know he played a part in this, but I can’t say I’m surprised.
