For 30 years, a Saskatchewan drifter somehow eluded one of the largest manhunts in Canadian history despite his face becoming part of the urban landscape on billboards, posters and newspapers. Named as the sole suspect after a missing nine-year-old girl tumbled dead from a refrigerator in his Toronto flophouse, Dennis Melvyn Howe became a figure of outrage and fear and then a man of mystery.
Now, an appliance repairman in Idaho says Canadian authorities think he may be Dennis Howe, and police confirm his claim.

Sharin Morningstar Keenans alleged murderer vanished 30 years ago now police may have found Dennis Melvyn Howe
...Now, an appliance repairman
wow.
Canada places certain conditions on extraditing *our* murderers to the US,so we should be able to do the same with theirs.
That’s an odd name the girl had, may she rest in peace.
A very strange story, but I’d think his identity could be readily established, if they have fingerprints and/or DNA.
Weird story. ID guy’s face doesn’t look like the Canadian guy they’re looking for.
He’s a suspect. They haven’t even bothered to tell him not to leave town, let alone arrest him.
Perhaps the publicity will surface the real killer?
He doesn’t seem very worried about it.
It is very weird. The guy claims he caught the killer and turned him over to police, but police killed the killer. Should be simple enough. Did this guy exist in 1982? Does anyone from his high school remember him? Did he work anywhere before the murder? If not, he got some splainin.
Momma must have been either a hippie or a redskin.
I don’t think it’s the same guy. The nose is way different.
He brought the finger of suspicion upon himself. Apparently he is not able to establish where he was 30 years ago.
Strange story.
“Momma must have been either a hippie or a redskin.”
Or a member of ‘The Nations’, which is politically-correct-speak for native/eskimo Canadians.
Sounds like there is a good chance it is him. I mean, that is one cockamamie story. Most likely explanation is it is the guy.
We should refuse extradition UNLESS they promise to execute him if found guilty.
So does this guy have brothers and sisters? Cousins aunts uncles ?
Where did he go to high school?
A quick answer on those things should establish who he is.
Why does this man in Idaho today have such a deep and abiding interest in this crime committed 30 years ago in Canada?
Naw, I gave up on politically correct. I’m workin’ on bein’ a creepy ass cracker these days. Sometimes you have to be willing to call a spade a spade.
You have a point. I remember how Canada handled that bastard Charles Ng.
