Congressional Black Caucus members would support Florida boycott
The Hill ^ | July 20, 2013 | Mike Lillis

A number of House Democrats are lining up behind the Rev. Jesse Jackson's threat for an economic boycott of Florida following the not-guilty verdict in the death of Trayvon Martin.

The lawmakers, all members of the Congressional Black Caucus, are fierce critics of the process that led to George Zimmerman's acquittal in the fatal shooting last year of the Florida teenager. Exerting pressure on Florida's economy as Jackson is suggesting, they said, could help overturn the state's controversial stand-your-ground laws that many contend contributed to the tragedy.

"That's probably the best strategy, because people understand dollars and cents," Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.) said Friday. "And they understand, if there's a significant drop-off in revenues – at conventions, at Disney World and Universal Studios – that that will get the attention of the powerful."

Clay said he'd like to see "a multi-pronged strategy" that includes legislation, "getting laws overturned by courts, as well as an economic boycott."

Rep. Bennie Thompson echoed that message. The Mississippi Democrat called the verdict "a travesty" that "does not speak well for this country," and said he would "absolutely" support an economic boycott of the state.

"[It] could have significant economic significance if properly organized," Thompson said Friday. "What I gather from a lot of people who have feelings about it, he [Jackson] would get … support."

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) said she's also on board.

"I would support whatever it takes to get these stand-your-ground laws off the books," she said.

I wonder if all the hard working black business owners in FL think that they should be punished with a boycott.

And when business drops the first place cuts are meade is in the lower ranks of the employees.

That would be people like janitors, chambermaids, cooks and bottle washers, fast food servers, delivery drivers, landscapers, warehouse help, etc. Just the kinds of jobs held by many blacks.

The black sellouts in the Democratic Party are trying again to make white America the bogeyman with a hood. Talk about total myopia. The CBC doesn’t have the guts to admit that so much of black America’s problems are self-inflicted. Instead, the race card is thrown out again. This weekend in Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit, DC, and NYC scores of blacks will be killed and injured by their own kind and yet the CBC wants to look the other way and blame the white man again and again.

Not at all surprising that Congressional Black Caucus members would support a Florida boycott.
The effective color of that group is red.

The NAAAA (that’s National Organization for the Advancement of African Americans - more P.C., right?) threatened a boycott over the Confederate flag over the S.C. State House dome (underneath the national colors & the state flag).

In 2000 the flag was removed from the dome and re-erected next to the Confederate soldier monument on the State House grounds. Not good enough, the NAAAA said, and the boycott goes on to this day.

Its only noticeable effect was the Obama campaign in 2008 & 2012 quartering its staff in private homes rather than hotels when passing through the Palmetto State.

The joke is that South Carolina’s beaches are the whitest on the East Coast. Except during Black Biker weekend in Myrtle Beach.

“The twelve percent versus the eight-seven percent”. Yeah, that’ll go over big. And Stand Your Ground doesn’t stand a chance now that Eric Holder & Nanny Bloomberg oppose it.

;^)

The lynch party was left holding an empty rope, and the instigators are mad. They want to enrage the savages and get revenge.

Another commie 'RAT moron with a negative I.Q. What do these "stand your ground" laws have to do with Zimmerman defending himself? It sounds to me like Lee is only worried about her felonious constituents getting their @$$es shot while committing their crimes.

There’s no point to boycotting Florida. George Zimmerman is innocent. Punish a State because you don’t like the outcome of a trial? Are we still a government of laws? Mob rule makes us all less safe.

Ironic that Trayvon was beating up someone he thought was a homosexual trying to rape him.
