Capitol Building press event featuring record-setting
scroll/petition continues to gather momentum

Washington, D.C. – Former Rep. Allen West (R-FL) has been added as a featured speaker at the July 23 Capitol steps press event to launch a nationwide drive in support of Texas Rep. Steve Stockman’s Discharge Petition to force a floor vote on H.Res. 36, Virginia Rep. Frank Wolfe’ bill to establish a House Select Committee to investigate the Benghazi Massacre.

The event, to be held on the House Ceremonial Stairs, will feature the unrolling of a record-setting four foot by 60-foot scroll/petition down the Capitol steps, bearing the names of more than 1,000 Special Service veterans demanding a full investigation of the September 11, 2012, Benghazi attacks. Following the event, the scroll/petition will be featured in a district-by-district nationwide grassroots campaign encouraging House members to sign the Discharge Petition and bring H.Res. 36 to the floor of the House.

West, a former member of the House Armed Services Committee, has said that “We did something that is the most heinous thing that could ever happen, we abandoned Americans while they were under attack.”

In a statement in May supporting the establishment of a House Select Committee to investigate Benghazi, the retired Army Lieutenant Colonel said, “As a former Member of Congress who also served in uniform, I know how important it is that we learn the truth about why military support was never sent to the Americans under fire at the U.S. annex in Benghazi last September.... We owe it to the families of the four victims and the survivors -- some of whom sustained serious injuries and were still at Walter Reed hospital months after the attack -- to fully investigate this terrorist attack and the Obama Administration's questionable response in the days and weeks that followed.”

West is a strong supporter of the H.Res. 36 Discharge Petition introduced by Stockman on July 17, 2013. In introducing the Petition, Stockman, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, said, “Some House Democrats now appear to be openly interfering with the investigation and intimidating witnesses, which only raises more questions about the White House’s involvement. The only way we’re going to get a clean and thorough investigation is by forcing a vote with a discharge petition.” The Discharge Petition requires 218 signatures to be forced out of the Rules Committee.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Discharge Petition ScrollOut Event will be set-up so as to allow maximum opportunity for news media photo-ops, video, and audio coverage. The 60-foot record-setting scroll/petition will be set up directly in front of the podium before being unrolled all the way down the stairs and across the sidewalk doing the event. The ceremony will feature an Honor Guard playing taps in honor of the fallen Americans.

Copies of all speeches will be made available to the press. And the press conference will be opened for questions immediately following the unrolling of the scroll/petition.

Outrageous so little response has come from our government.

The debacle of Benghazi sits front and center and NOTHING (no answers or explanation ) has been forth coming. Police State!! or sheer stupidity?

Americans deserve a government whose job is to be good for America. and its citizens. ALL THE TIME!

AND NO MATTER THE BRANCH, COURT, LAWS, LAW MAKERS AND OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN TO BE RECEIVING ALL THE NECESSARY TREATMENTS WHEN RETURNING FROM THE WAR ZONES, AND THEIR REGULAR LIVES. ETC.

We have a media system determined to give little or no reporting on all things Republican, Conservative and all the while painting everything the Democrats, liberals, do ... with being attractively painted to be wonderful. (NOT)
