Sources told The Dispatch this morning that Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer has dismissed No.1 running back Carlos Hyde, who was named as a person of interest in a weekend assault against a female in a Downtown bar, and that he is still looking into a situation regarding starting cornerback Bradley Roby in Bloomington, Ind., over the weekend.

According to Monroe County court records, Roby was arrested early yesterday morning in Bloomington and is facing preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury. Sources told The Dispatch he was asked to leave a bar after a disturbance, refused, and was subdued by bouncers at the bar before being taken into custody.

Do they know for sure this guy is guilty? If it turns out he wasn’t, I guess too bad for him.

A few years ago Tennessee had a major problem with the high number of criminals on the team. Many of those have gone on to the pros and continued their escapades.

Hernandez was believed to be doing Post Graduate studies in this field.
He was tutoring his associates. :^}

Yep, I remember NuKeese something, a player Tennessee grabbed from the Gators at the last minute, played all of one game before getting busted for armed robbery.

There was some speculation that Urban left Florida because the administration was starting to come down on him for all of the arrests of his players.

My thoughts on this are: You need to STAY THE HELL OUT OF TROUBLE if you are an athlete. You need to behave BETTER than the norm expected of students (you know, getting a hundred thousand dollar university education with books, room and board included for FREE where other have to actually PAY for it). You keep your nose clean. If trouble starts you RUN, not walk, RUN the other way. Avoid even the first appearance of impropriety. You are privileged. You are expected to act better.

If enough thugs get shown the door and have their full ride scholarships cancelled, perhaps this will cause a change in the incidence of thuggery in the national Felons League. And a restoration in respect for “the program” at whatever school.

We'll find out ...

If he's not too guilty, it's a career-enhancer in the National Felons League.

They have watched people get away with crime all their life. In an urban environment, criminals are protected from scrutiny. Think of it as like the Mafia. No one wants to snitch.
The players think it works the same way for them except they lost the anonymity and protection of the street. You can fight dogs in the hood and get away with it. You can smoke weed and bust up your woman. But in a lily white college environment, that won’t play.

Urban is doing some legacy repair after Aaron Hernandez

I'm surprised Hernandez went to U of F. Miami would've been a better fit.

Not sure how you can blame anyone BUT the actual idiot player getting arrested. Urban Myer did NOT recruit these kids and was not standing next to these guys in the bar egging them on to punch a girl or resist arrest. Geezes, I don’t know the coach but I’m pretty sure he was in his bed those nights sleeping soundly and acting like an adult.

Get over it people...blame the ones who committed the da*n crime!

But it HAS been playing. They HAVE been protected by those in “The Program”. What will be interesting to watch is if suddenly, “The Program” spits out the thugs.

Right now they have the protection, its gone from the protection of the street to the protection of “The Program”. If that goes away in large part, whoa nelly, this game just changed.

Are you listening, Notre Dame??

The story of Urban Whiner leaving Florida is strange at best.

He claims he's sick, takes a short leave of absence, comes back for a while, then leaves for good mumbling about a medical condition with his heart. He leaves, becomes a commentator, less than a year later takes one of the most pressure packed coaching jobs on the planet with Ohio State.

I'm guessing he leaves them as bizarrely as Florida. It always struck me as odd that he left for a bad heart, then took THAT position, with a fan base and an administration that expects you to win and doesn't give a damn how you do it.

I read later that Gator Nation believes he was forced to leave by his wife. That his "medical condition" was a hot graduate student he was having a fling with.

Whatever happened, his leaving was strange, and his taking the job with the Buckeyes is even stranger. I am guessing he leaves Ohio with the same kind of hangover as he left Florida.

The program can’t protect players after they are arrested. VT’s kicker was charged after being involved in a break-in and fight over a drug deal gone bad. He was booted from the team and missed the bowl game (Tech lost on a missed field goal). He was re-instated but only after a lot of work by the player.
Our RB was kicked off this week. The team appeared apathetic to having him back, probably because of other issues. Teams are learning when to cut their losses.
