I picked up a copy of the local tabloid rag the Philly Daily News on the train tonight (would never buy one any more), and the number of pages are a shadow of its former self.
It was a full-court press on Trayvon and the endless murders of young black men in our cities.
And of course, since the Daily News is a hard-core liberal paper, all of the liberal talking points were observed.
According to moronic Daily News blogger Will Bunch, Zimmerman was 'punk-whogot-away' and Stand Your Ground laws are 'lethal'. Never mind that in Florida, more blacks than whites, on a percentage basis, have benefited from a Stand Your Ground defense and Stand Your Ground was not invoked or called into play in the Zimmerman trial by either the prosecution or the defense.
Jenice Armstrong promulgated the notion that Zimmerman drew the wrong conclusion about Trayvon that night, and he was 'wrong as hell' about St. Skittles.
But the highest-quality idiocy was saved for the editorial page.
The Daily News actually has one of the better liberal cartoonists in the business, Signe Wilkerson. But she's on vacation, so in their siren call of an edition about a discussion on black violence, they pick an extemely offensive and deceiptful cartoon from elsewhere, and since it is not what their normal cartoonist elsewhere sent them, it was a deliberate and provocative choice.
I cannot post it here since it is behind their pay firewall. But it shows a fat white dude with a cowboy had and two six-shooters in hip holsters with an x'd out caption on his t-shirt of 'RECKLESS, COP-WANNABEE, LETHALLY OVERZELOUS, COWBOY VIGILANTIASM' and below it in red "NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH'.
Yeah, the Daily News really wants an honest discussion here, having chosen that cartoon.
Not.
And it just goes downhill from there.
You see, it's all our fault that young black men are demonized.
Yep.
I am typing from hard copy here, but they actually said that.
"We think it's time to have a conversation about why we are OK as a society with the extermination of young black men."
"That's of course a harder conversation to have, because it requires all of us, black, white and brown, to acknowledge the fact that the demonization of young black men has taken such a deep hold in this society, and we all participate in it, consiounsly or un consiounsly."
Every time I think the Trayvon left-wing drivel cannot possibly get more hyperbolic, the liberals prove me wrong. The Daily News even went as far to compare the situation to Nazi concentration camps and gas chambers. I would suggest the editors of the Daily News Google "Goodwin's Law" and get back to us.
You claim to want a conversation, Daily News. I stand here and say, you don't. You don't want an honest conversation. You just want to shout your fact-free drivel into my ear with a bullhorn and demand that I like it and agree with it without debate. You want a dishonest viewpoint shoved down our throats that does nothing to address the core problems behind the rampant murders of blacks in this country - 93 percent of which are committed by other blacks.
The left wing has created a narrative about the Zimmerman case that ignores inconvenient facts while creating convenient lies. That is not the sign of people interested in an honest conversation.
The real story is the problems with black thug culture. Whites are not responsilble for that. Your own editorial falls flat at the end.
You say to black males in your editorial "We are not going to let you drop out of school."
Do you know what urban black culture calls that?
Acting white.
So how the flock is that the fault of whites, that black urban culture disdains the white (and Asian) path out of poverty and violence? And those same black teens in Philly routinely beat up Asians in Philly public schools? And those assaults are covered up by Philly school administrators the same way the MSM pretends that Trayvon did not assault George Zimmerman?
A path of education, hard work and marriage is how to best avoid death, poverty and prison. That is well documented but ignored by liberals and urban black culture. They instead embrace a path away from prosperity and one that leads to the path of violence that the Daily News decries while blaming that failure on the very middle-class culture that offers a sane alternative.
Trayvon would probably still be alive today if he had acted 'normally' instead of 'black'.
He could have just gone home.
He could have politely asked Zimmerman why he was being followed and cleared up that he was staying in the neighborhood for the time being.
But he did nothing of the sort. His friend implied that Zimmerman was due an ass-kicking for the crime of thinking wrongly about Trayvon acting like a potential burglar.
Ample evidence exists that Trayvon chose the failed path that leads to poverty, violence, prison or death.
He missed 53 days of school.
He was into fighting and assault before the incident with George Zimmerman happened.
He was into drug abuse, from his social media posts about wanting to get high on Lean, a mix of watermelon ice tea, Skittles and cough syrup. He was carrying two of the three, unopened, when the Zimmerman confrontation happened. And documented side effects of abuse of such include paranoia and agression.
He was suspended for possessing 'found' property. That used to be called 'stolen' property until the local school cops decided to downgrade the concept to help pretend that young black male pathology is a lesser problem that honest, real statistics would indicate.
There are accounts of assault against a bus driver and a teacher.
In other words, Trayvon had discovered his inner black urban thug male. And was living the dream, or what sane people would consider a nightmare for a 17-year-old male of any race.
And there is no good outcome there, other than to throw it into reverse and change one's life. But rain down hellfire and liberal damnation on anyone who points that out.
If liberals truly wanted an honest debate here, they would embrace blacks such as Bill Cosby and Juan Williams who decry black urban thug culture.
instead, they villify them. As they vilify conservatives for the heinous offense of pointing out the obvious.
So screw you, Daily News, and all the stinking dishonest liberals you represent. We have already seen what you will do to anyone who steps forward to challenge your entrenched and failed talking points.
You don't want an honest discussion.
You want the status quo to be perpetuated. And the bodies and failures to keep piling up.
And to be blamed on conservatives.

It’s inconvenient for the left...including our Community Organizer-In-Chief...to acknowledge that NoLimitsNigga,essentially fatherless like so many black youths,was on the path to a life of crime.I wouldn’t bet ten dollars that he would have avoided long prison sentences for drugs and/or violence...like so many black males today.
What gets me is that Trayvon wouldn’t have even had to be polite to Zimmerman, and act like a well-brought up young man. He could have yelled and cursed and flipped him off and “I’m living in Unit 12, you punk-a$$ mo-fo, *&^%$#@!!” and then some... and he’d be alive today. It’s clear from Zimmerman’s demeanor and his delay in shooting that he would’ve just stood there and talked, or backed off and retreated to his car. But nooo.... boy had to play Knock out.

IMO, Zimmerman acted with a lot of restraint. Trayvon did not. And that gets into the nuts and bolts of this situation.

Right, Mr. Martin could have mouthed off and stomped off, and saved his own life. However, I think his judgment was severely impaired by drugs (likely THC) and trying to beat up the neighborhood watchman proved more attractive (and ultimately fatal) to him.
O’Reilly was on a similar rant tonight, correctly calling out the thug rap/hiphop culture, the fact that 70%+ of black babies are born out of wedlock, the lack of moral guidance from absentee parents, failure of the public school system, and so on. I watch O’Reilly because he gets all the best guests and usually only turn half an ear toward whatever he’s bloviating about, but when he gets fired up he can be very effective, and smoke was rolling out of his ears tonight.
Even the idiot Juan Mc..I mean Williams didn’t dare disagree and instead claimed he’d said it all first.
Yes. All you have to do is listen to that first 911 call to hear how long Zimmerman screamed for help before he finally shot. Frankly, if he HAD been a nut with a gun in his hand, Trayvon would probably be alive today, because thugs don’t generally try to jump people they know are armed. It’s clear the kid thought Zimmerman was unarmed. Again, that’s a lot of restraint; I’d have had my hand on the gun the minute he came toward me.

Good post. Racists aren’t interested in conversation - they want to hold onto their hatred and their desire to blame the white man for their failures because they are lazy people. They must have a built in stupid gene because their behavior just makes no sense to me. People with self-respect get it; these racist thugs never will.
In the black community there are more race baiters and haters than there are men like Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver and men of that caliber. The few there are of them; men like Allen West get shouted down by their own kind. Tragic! Only until the black community listen to the West’s of this world they are doomed and frankly I could care less at this point because I’ve had it with them. The events of the past four years and certainly the past four months with this Travon bullshit have hardened my heart against black people. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s that I don’t trust them anymore - even the good ones that I used to consider friends. I am not proud of myself for reaching this state but it is not my responsibility to make things right, it’s theirs, and until the black community cleans house I’m staying out of the way of their hatred.
I’m sure Martin Luther King is turning over in his grave today because this is certainly not the future he envisioned. To put a Travon hoodie on him as if King would approve of TM is beyond the pale!

Basically, they picked the wrong case to advance their narrative.
It may work to stir up those of Trayvon’s culture who are not at all interested in the truth, just his reflectivity,
but it didn’t work on a wider scale.

It's far beyond inconvenient.
The MSM and even DUH-1 jumped in with both feet and the meme that this poor, innocent boy had been wronged. They didn't check out any facts, or they ignored them, just to bring the meme to life.
And then they doubled down on their racist assumptions, and doubled down again, proving themselves every bit as racist as they accused anyone else of being, even though their accusations just don't bear up to scrutiny.
It is a sad situation indeed that neither the racists of the media, nor the one in the White House can man up enough to admit having been wrong.
They have utterly no interest in such. There is nothing to be gained, in their worldview, by reducing tension by telling the truth.
