Vandal Targets Prius Cars in Arlington
NBC Washington ^ | 7/22/2013

Posted on 07/23/2013 4:30:05 AM PDT by markomalley

More than a dozen people spread throughout north and south Arlington woke up Monday morning with slashed car tires, and the vandal had a pretty specific target.

Someone punctured the tires of Priuses parked overnight on driveways, apartment parking lots and the street. Police found 15 Prius cars flat. They also got a Smart car.

Police say they found fingerprints consistent with someone leaning on the car while cutting the tires.

I don’t give a rat’s rump about people who own Smart cars; if they want to have to borrow a neighbor’s bigger car to make a grocery run, that’s their problem.

It could be a bicycle rider. They think they own the road also.

a hybrid car simply has two engines.

No, but some airplanes have two or more engines.

A hybrid has an engine and a MOTOR. There is a major difference between the terms.

Think about it. In most (if not all) of these incidents, it is some leftist prig who does this sort of vandalism.

I would like it if I never saw another one in the HOV lane. They like to go slow.

Yup...Until 10 years ago I thought the DMV was causing a lot of the confusion.

Now it should be called the DEMV.

There's still a lot of confusion about the two terms. Generally, the distinction is either about nrg source (i.e. electrical vs. chemical or heat) OR rotating vs. reciprocating.

The later is my personal preference.

.

Thoughts?

Once upon a time, Honda made the Insight hatchback. The first-gen cars were tiny ultralight machines, and as I recall they did require special tires, or at least recommended them, as part of their “hypermiler” ethos. That’s probably where the notion came from.

Frankly, I happen to like the 2nd-gen and 3rd-gen Prius (and the spinoffs). Setting aside all the asinine “greenie” stuff, the tech is neat. It’s a great city car.

Prius don’t bother me, but the arrogant fools with the “smart” cars that have plates like “We Smart” and other garbage do.

Living in Central Florida, we see a lot of motorhomes come in the Fall and go in the Spring.

About one third of them have a car in tow behind them.

Most often, the car they have in tow is either a Prius or a Smart Car.

There is a development down the road from us. One section has RV Homes that have an attached RV garage the length of the house. They also have an attached two car garage and a third attached stall for either a third car or a golf cart.

One such home has two Smart Cars, with SMART 1 and SMART 2 plates. Another home has a Prius with ECO-RIDE for a plate.

Both homes have motorhomes that are gargantuan and probably cost twice the price of the entire home.

On a side note: just this past week, I have observed two Prius cars on the city streets clogging traffic as they were broken down and immobile with frantic owners on their cellphones. Made me curious as to the cause of their breaking down and especially how old the cars might have been.

During the summer of '09, wifey and I were on a cross-country road trip and stopped at a rest stop in the Texas Hill Country.....there was a beentsie Smart car parked there with Florida plates; not having seen many - especially on the Interstates - we guessed it was somebody's tow-behind.

Just as we finished up, a grey haired woman left the bathroom, got in and headed east.....a few miles down the road, we saw a semi move into the left lane and pass her - the blowback gave the little Smart quite a wiggle.

Being as you're in Florida, it could be the summer heat offing their battery systems.

Here in the Kalifornia desert, you're lucky to get two years out of a "Five Year" car battery.....heat kills. The only upside is that the warranty gets your replacement for virtually free.

I was in a meeting with a bunch of leftists co-workers one time. I usually daydreamed during those meetings most of the time, but I woke up and heard them discussing smart cars. Without thinking, I said loudly, “Can you imagine trying to pick up a woman in one of those things?”. Everyone just roared with laughter.

That idiotic nursery school sounding song on the Prius commercial is worse than nails on a blackboard. Worst commercial on tv.

The Prius is a very well engineered (albeit not very pretty) car, and I don’t begrudge those who drive them. Along with others, I smell a liberal perp trying to make others look bad. Reasoning: We conservatives just don’t give much of a smelly Obama about what libs drive. However, we care very much about their inability to reason, and their sleaziness, lying, and backstabbing.

Libs should remember that the Prius doesn’t go very fast (except when some lib claims it had “unintended acceleration”) and as such will not do them much good when CW-II starts.

Same here. Have to keep a close watch on the "2-Year" mark or you get stranded somewhere with a dead battery. AAA and jumper cables come in mighty handy during the summer which runs from March 1 to December 31.

The only thing worse than that is an old couple in a Buick.

A hybrid has an engine and a MOTOR. There is a major difference between the terms.

Although some like to differentiate by labeling steam or combustion motors "engines" and electric engines "motors", there really is no difference in the meaning of the words that prohibits them being used interchangeably.

Even in common usage you get "motor boats" and "General Motors".

“Police say they found fingerprints consistent with someone leaning on the car while cutting the tires.”

Cops. They look the other way on, burglary, auto theft,
illegal immigration (sanctuary cities), hit and run accidents
and vandalism of average American citizens but you let one
tard group be the target and they find all the resources
they need to investigate and find who did it. Throw in
their lust for killing law abiding citizens pets and you
wonder, other than generating revenue, what are they good
for.

As far as smug Prius owners, just burn a tire in their
honor. It makes their elitist attempt moot.
