House Republicans took a tentative step toward offering citizenship to some unauthorized immigrants Tuesday, but hit an immediate wall of resistance from the White House on down as Democrats said it wasnt enough.
The dismissive reaction to the GOP proposal to offer eventual citizenship to some immigrants brought illegally to the U.S. as children underscored the difficulties of finding any compromise in the Republican-led House on the politically explosive issue of immigration.
That left prospects cloudy for one of President Barack Obamas top second-term priorities. Congress is preparing to break for a month-long summer recess at the end of next week without action in the full House on any immigration legislation, even after the Senate passed a sweeping bipartisan bill last month to secure the borders and create a path to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants already in the country illegally.

I’m sure the House Republicans will find some way to get over this hurdle.
Meanwhile, the Dems don’t give on a single issue.
” Meanwhile, the Dems dont give on a single issue.”
Why should they? With the Republicans always caving.
Thats what the illegal aliens and their enablers are saying at the House hearing right now
“Thats not enough.”

Wowzer, Senate’s gonna secure the border! Man oh man ain’t them US Senators somethin’ else?
They sound so much like the Palestinian Authority, the way the Democrats go on. Right?
I think the Republican Party should be checked for venereal disease, as often has it has been violated.
Too many miles on the odo!
Didn’t Obama just sign an executive order making that mandatory, or something like that . . . ?
Pledge to fund and vigorously enforce ALL of the immigration laws that have already been passed over the years. Quit with this bullhockey! The Senate bill is a piece of crap. Let it die. Blue slip it. You're wasting my taxpayer dollars!
Do something useful. Need some starter ideas? Form some select committees and go hard core on Bengahzi, Fast & Furious, IRS, government spying on me, etc. You've got enough right there to keep you productively occupied till at least the end of the year.
Get busy!! I've known noodles with more spine than you guys. Cojones too.
If you think this will be too hard to accomplish, there are millions of folks that will be overjoyed to put into office next year some conservatives who know how to kick ass, take names and drive for the goal line.
Pardon the rant. Sh!t like this article just drives me crazy!

No, I don’t think so. With Boehner in there, he didn’t need to.
Pray for gridlock.
Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.
Michelle Bachman explained it. ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse.NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call congress.
Tell them to stop all Amnesty or immigration bills.they are all trojan horse bills. some will promise border security that will never be enforced anyway.
Bachmann explained it . The House will write a border security bill only . then in conference the senate will add the virus and then bring it back to the house. then the conservatives wont vote for it but democrats will all vote for it so then they only need 10% of republicans to pass Amnesty and the virus that will destroy America. so any bill at all will be added the virus . so best thing is for Boner to not let any immigration bill at all come out of the House. that is the only hope . call boner and the members of the House.
Tom Tancredo echos what Michelle Bachmann said.
call congress . no bill at all from the House
and of course boner must not bring the Senate bill for the House to vote on. no senate bill, no border security bill from the House .nothing
Hey ! I resemble that remark !
Why get upset over this issue when a GOP stalwart such as Trey Gowdy supports immigration reform, of course with a little stricter border control than we have now. Amnesty is a done deal, Boehner is just trying to figure out how many no votes he can allow for cover while still passing the bill,
The freeloading future Democrat-wannabes should be made citizens of whatever country their criminal parents snuck in from.
Then, they should be thrown out.
“the Senate passed a sweeping bipartisan bill last month to secure the borders ...”
You just can’t buy press like that, you have to brainwash and blackmail them too.
