There is a time and place for everything, and a smart parent will temper his impulses if necessary for the best possible outcome — it’s his obligation.
Ignoring the press is rational.
But if he said he doesn't want to talk to the press because he does not want anyone to think he supports the man who rescued his children, then that's contemptible.
