Green Coke With Natural Sweetener Stevia Launched In Argentina
South Atlantic News Agency ^ | Tuesday, July 23rd 2013 - 07:16 UTC

The drinks giant has launched Coca Cola Life, which is sweetened with sugar and the naturally occurring, no-calorie sweetener stevia. The new product features a striking green label and is packaged in the award-winning PlantBottle. This is made with 30% plant material and is fully recyclable.

Coca Cola says the bottle “looks functions and recycles just like traditional PET plastic, but does so with a lighter footprint on the planet and its scarce resources”.

The new drink has 108 calories in a 600 millilitre bottle - between classic Coke with 250 calories and the zero-calorie Diet Coke.

“Coca-Cola Life is the first soda from the Coca-Cola family that is naturally sweetened with sugar and Stevia, which adds to our portfolio a delicious taste with a proposed low in calories” Coca-Cola stated on its Argentinean website.

This latest offering from Coca Cola comes hot on the heels of the company releasing a new bottle made entirely of ice. Currently only available in Colombia, the design is being marketed as eco friendly since it melts after the coke is consumed, meaning there is nothing left to throw away or recycle.

A Spanish advertisement for Botello de Hielo (bottle of ice) shows beach-goers enjoying the ice cold beverages on a hot day, and then letting their bottles melt away in the sand.

They can keep the green bottle and the propaganda but I’d like to try the product.

I have an idea for a new product - Coca Cola Death. Black on black label.

You can drink one bottle. On the second, you die.

Millions of libs would drink the stuff just to find out if it worked.

Nobody heard him, the dead man,
But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larking
And now he’s dead
It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,
They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

Safeway sells their flavored seltzer water with orange, lime and mixed berry flavors. No sugar or artificial sweeteners. They are great and 0 calories. Wish they would have a cola flavor. I can’t believe Coke or Pepsi have not done something similar.

Later this evening I am going to make Kool-Aid (the real kind you drink) with Stevia. haven’t had Kool-Aid in 40 years.

You are right about the green: generally, in food marketing, green is avoided like the plague, especially around meat, etc. There are some exceptions, but rare.

I’d just like to have an original Coke made with cane sugar, not GMO corn syrup.

Mexican Coke, made with real sugar. Costco was selling it for a long time but I stocked up and have not checked lately.

Stevia has a nasty after-taste to me. Kind of like licorice, which I like on it’s own, but unpleasant in other
food items.

Stevia is an awesome sweetner. It doesn’t have an after taste and isn’t poison like all the others.

I have been buying Zevia soft drinks, that come in three flavors that I know of. Root beer, cream soda and cola.

Another low glycemic sweetner is Agave Syrup. great in recipes. I use it in Ice tea and other things that I use to put honey on. These two products are an alternative for Diabetics.

Stevia is bad news for a lot of people. Both myself and my wife got splitting headaches just a few minutes each time we tried Stevia, and I almost never get headaches for any reason.

Just check out the half million hits you get with this google: stevia headache

What is the sweetener in Cola Zero? That one seems completely without aftertaste to me.

But the real trick to the old-fashioned Cola thing is the good ol thick-walled glass bottle.

Rare green meat is especially to be avoided!
