Jim continues discussion of the George Zimmerman trial verdict with Baton Rouge Rep. Ted James.
8 minutes in and 23 minutes in. At 23:30 he "stakes" his law degree that Trayvon was entitled to a jury of his peers, despite a listener pointing out that, in fact, it was the defendant, Zimmerman, entitled to such Constitutional protection.
The rest of the conversation contains the usual spin mixed with falsehoods: That stand your ground had something to do with this case, that TM was an innocent child shot down, etc.
He would have gotten one if he had not been stupid enough to attack a man with a gun
What an embarrassment. This idiot apparently doesn’t realize the thug is dead and he was not the one on trial. God help us.
His peers are all dead.
If this whole thing never happened, sooner or later he would have been tried by a jury of his peers.
jury of white women
Why didn’t the jury contain some blacks? Some men?
I suppose the prosecution approved of the jury’s members. Seems odd, though, that there were no blacks.
If Traydown had minded his own business and just went home, we would never have had to go through this crap.
When we have representatives who couldn’t pass a basic 6th grade civics test, we have serious problems.
If he actually got his peers, they would be Tupak Shakur, Notorious BIG and other dead gangster rappers. That wouldn’t have worked out well at all.
Trayvon wasn’t on trial.
They would have all shot each other.
The prosecution knocked out one potential black juror because that person watched Fox News.
Blacks make up something like 10% of the county, its not too odd that out of 6 there would be 5 white and 1 other.
The prosecution nixed a black off the jury pool because he regularly watched Fox News.
The defense made a good point that if he wasn’t dead Trayvon would have been on trial for assault
I’d call 911 of any of Travon’s “peers” were anywhere near my home.
Travon was a wannabe felon...and it was only a matter of time until he fulfilled his dream.
And - indeed - he could have been a young Obama.
Same lack of judgement, same stupidity.
Actually, the Rep and the caller were both wrong; neither is entitled to a jury of their “peers”. The Constitution simply entitles the defendant to an “impartial” jury, it says nothing about the makeup of the jury.
Maybe this is the reason plantation owners didn’t want them to learn to read and write.
I don’t think six dead thugs would be very good jurors.
Now, if they want more .. or different .. move to another country.
If at first you don’t succeed....keep on sucking till you do suck seed.
Right, but he is dead, therefore he doesn’t need a jury of his peers!
Just more proof that law colleges do not require at least an average IQ nor do they graduate those knowledgeable of law. Liberal bigotry and bias is acceptable to law colleges.
There was a potential juror who was black.
I think the prosecution excused the juror because the juror admitted to watching Fox News.
But there was a black alternate.
I think the prosecution pinned their hopes on the women because they were all mothers.
And as such - they would let emotion and sympathy overrule logic and convict Z for killing some poor mothers’s child.
Didn’t work out that way.
It didn’t work out that way because the prosecution didn’t have a case, even so, 3 of them originally wanted to convict Zimmerman, before changing their minds....it shouldn’t have even come to that.
The cops didn't charge Z 'cause St. Trayvon was just another dead ****** , and Z told a plausable story.
Only weeks later did al dulldumb push to rile the natives that gave Corey the idea that it should be a national trial.
I firmly believe the prosecution intentionally threw the game.
Nothing else explains all the defense witnesses the prosecution called.
"What'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis?"
Probably didn't pass the bar exam.....
When did you come to that conclusion? When Guam tipped over?
A lot of sheeple just go with the government by default, which is sad.
The real problem for a lot of people in our country nowadays, it would seem, is that the verdict came at the end of the trial and not at the beginning.
There was at least one black in the jury pool who was eliminated by the prosecution.

OMara added that the state struck the first Black juror and then we got our six. He continued: I had questions about two Black jurors on their ability to be fair and impartial and we talked about that. Thats been I think now put on the record when it comes to my thoughts and the judge agreed that they were race neutral reasons. So while people can look at it and have this reaction: theres no Blacks on the jury, theres no this, or theres no that, tell me we did something wrong in the process and Ill agree with you. If you look at this process and Ill agree with you if you look at the process and say it was done fairly than the result was fair.
Attorneys for Trayvon Martins parents issued a statement after the jury was chosen, saying:
This case has always been about equal justice. Equal justice under the law is not a Black value or a White value. Its an American value. With the makeup of this jury, the question of whether every American can get equal justice regardless of who serves on their jury panel will be answered. We expect the jury pool to do their duty and be fair and impartial. We firmly believe that when these jurors see the overwhelming evidence that will be put before them in the coming weeks, they will find George Zimmerman guilty of murder on the night in question.
He got the next best thing —
“overwhelming evidence” ??
They must be talking about a different case, one that had any evidence at all
If Martin had survived to be tried for the two counts of aggravated batter he racked up, I am sure he would have gotten a jury of his peers.
However, since Martin was not on trial, this isn’t relevant.
At least Trayvon got to select his own jury, it was his choice of Zimmerman.
America has an extraordinarily peculiar and, IMO, counter-productive jury selection system.
In Britain a pool of perhaps 200 is brought in, any obvious challenges dealt with, such as family members of cops, etc. Then a random jury is chosen for each trial by a computer.
I think such a system is better than our present one of spending weeks or months with the two sides competing to stack the deck.
Jim, you alma mater called. They want their diploma back.
After watching and listening to the Justice 4 Trayvon mobs, it should be obvious that Obama followers/liberals cannot or will not analyze information for themselves and are easily led by any charlatan who steps up to the microphone.
Watching the trial was admittedly an eye opening experience to me.
Witness after witness backed Zimmerman’s story and was patently obvious he was acting in self defense.
Yet there was this MSM narrative (concocted by the family first to cash in and then politicians to exploit racial divisions and keep their base motivated - apparently hatred is the only unifying force) that whatever the testimony was that day and whatever evidence came in, ALL of the talking heads (Nancy Grace being the worst) would keep repeating the lies over and over.
The picture of TM as a 12 year old... innocent child... did nothing wrong... hunted down... racially profiled... white vs. black.
The victim mentality has created a disconnect from reality. That’s my only explanation.
Year after year of ‘you’re a victim, racism is keeping you down, it’s the white man’ from MSM and liberal media has resulted in a psychological break from reality.
Like the dog beat when a bell rings, ANY event that remotely involves race closes down all mental faculties for lefties of all races. They immediately jump to conclusions and any information or facts contrary to their persecution complex reality are filtered out and ignored.
The THUG was not on trial, so he gets no jury of peers or otherwise. In the court of public opinion the verdict was proper because Zimmerman got a fair trial.
His “peers” were named ‘Smith’ and ‘Wesson’.
