Detroit Free Press | July 23, 2013 | Joe Guillen

Complete Headline: Detroit council supports calls for federal investigation of possible civil rights charges against George Zimmerman

Cannot excerpt the Detroit Free Press because it is a Gannett publication, but here is a clickable link to the article

The headline pretty well gives the gist of the story.

You Freepers got to admit that the Detroit City Council doesn't have any other business that's more important these days!

They can’t figure out how to balance their checkbook but they have the time to meddle in the affairs of the state of Florida.

It may have run out of local affairs to make wretched messes of, so it's going national.

They should be more concerned about indictments coming down on their own heads.

Truly amazing that the Detroit City Council, facing huge and enormous challenges at this time, has time to wade on this. No wonder the city is bankrupt.

These people (council) don’t care about solvency. They don’t care about anybody or anything except whether they can still get a check from the city government. Since they’re on the top teat, I expect they’ll be sucking on it until a bankruptcy judge yanks them off.

Thieves, liars, racists in the guise of a government servant. Their constituents, also on government checks of another kind, DO NOT CARE.

I read the headline and thought “investigating the charges” meant investigating why someone would charge an obviously innocent man (probably based on George being profiled by race by local government). That seems like a civil rights violation to me.

I think we can kill two birds with one stone here. Obama should use imminent domain to seize Detroit and incorporate it into the Justice Department. Then, he can bail them out without bothering to go through Congress, and appoint the City Council to investigate Zimmerman.

This is what democrat rule for 50 years does to a city. coming to the rest of America soon , 1 party rule once they pass the Amnesty bill. Call the Congress tell them no immigration related bill must come out of the House as it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty bill.

This is what democrat rule for 50 years does to a city. Detroit = democrat rule. Shanghai = China city where they embrace capitalism

If you read the article, one of the other council members said they needed to address the black on black crime in their own city.

It appears at least one of them does not have their head completely shoved up their rear end.

As a conservative Republican who just happens to live in a big city (LA) I know what part of the problem is. There is an ENORMOUS concentration of Democrats in many of these cities. Many big cities are strictly one party. There is an unholy alliance between the public service unions and the Democrat Party. Republican politicians no longer compete in many of these big cities. LA used to have at least some Republican strength. It used to have GOP mayors, GOP police chiefs, at least some GOP city councilmen. But no more. The city is strictly one party. When you vote in municipal elections your choices are limited only to Democrats. It’s like voting in the former Soviet Union. In many ways this is truly a shame. But one party control of our big cities is ruining them. And this is nothing to celebrate.

Think it would be a good idea to have a thread just for pictures like those shown for Detroit? There are plenty of streets right here in Pittsburgh that look identical to them.
