The director of the National Intelligence says an effort in the House to rein in the National Security Agency’s electronic surveillance program would dismantle a critical tool in the fight against terrorism.

. . . and the Muslim Brotherhood is still “moderate”, right, Clapper? And none of this surveillance shall ever be extended to mosques per current practice?

Clapper said he was joining the leaders of the congressional intelligence panels in cautioning against acting in haste. He said he welcomes an open and candid discussion about the NSA programs.

Except when he's lying to them.

Sorry, Clapper, but you should have considered that before NSA exceeded its Constitutional authority and before you lied to the Congressional Committee.

Sounds like a protection racket. “Be a shame if you cut our funding and something happened to that nation of yours”.

The entire federal government is obsessed with collecting information on citizens.

It seems the real “enemies” they are after are critics of Obama, gun owners, defenders of the constitution and Christians.

Knowing how this administration works, if funding was cut, the first thing they’d do is put the detailed theory of operation and blueprints to the W88 and F22 on a Windows 3.11 PC, and hang it on the Internet. Sequester, you know.

Agree. If the NSA was really after terrorists, they need only look where the terrorists are. And they would have thwarted the Boston Marathon bombing. ENOUGH OF BIG BROTHER!! Defund it NOW!!

I have come to the opinion that the general NSA employees are working within the confines but an amount equal to their entire cost is being spent with “contractors” and “consultants”.

These groups are directed by political appointees and higher level people that can be influenced by political agendas and additionally do not have the tight training and strictures of a full time classified intelligence service employee.

All of the leaks, problems and issues have been with these folks and interagency low levels piped into the NSA feeds like the young army traitor.

As this is this sensitive, cut out the contractors, restrict the programs and have the trained people do the jobs (or refuse to do the jobs) as put together by the political appointees.

The loyal grunts that do the work are being cut by sequestration, not the top level hogs. Further budget cuts are going to come out of the trained line-level employees not out of the contractors working on “specials” in my worry.

When we have a corrupt and agenda driven administration in place for another 3 years all we can do is cut the purse strings but we need to give it direction.

I am in private industry but work with DOD people everyday and have some idea of the cultures and types of people involved.

Terrorists could rent every billboard the entire length of I-80 and advertize an impending attack 6 months ahead of time and our “intelligence” agencies would still be taken by surprise.

To quote Jim Traficant

“Our intelligence agencies are so stupid they could throw themselves at the ground and miss.”

Only a complete and utter moron would believe that the disaster that is our intelligence industry came about because of the Obama administration alone.

Obama has 3 years left to put together the largest database of voters, politicians, and businesses ever accumulated. Think he’ll use it for political advantage?
