Willie Louis Dies at 76; Witness to 1955 Murder of Emmett Till

Willie Louis risked his life to testify about the murder of Emmett Till in Mississippi, a case that opened the nation's eyes to the dangers facing African Americans.

Willie Louis, a witness to the murder of Emmett Till who testified in court in the case that opened the nation's eyes to the dangerous discrimination facing African Americans in the 1950s, died of intestinal bleeding July 18 at a hospital in a Chicago suburb, his family said. He was 76.

After the trial, fearing for his life in the South, Louis fled to Chicago, changed his name and slipped out of the public eye for nearly 50 years.

Louis was born June 14, 1937, in Greenwood, Miss., and lived with his grandparents, who worked as sharecroppers, said his wife, Juliet.

On Aug. 28, 1955, the 14-year-old Till, who was visiting Mississippi from Chicago, was murdered after he allegedly whistled at a white woman. On that day, Louis, then known as Willie Reed, noticed two white men driving a truck into a barn with two black males in the back.

He was standing with an older woman near a well when he heard a male screaming for his life inside the barn, his wife said.

"He heard all this hollering and screaming until there was no more hollering and screaming," she said.

Later that day, a white man approached Louis with a gun, Juliet Louis said. "He said, 'Boy, did you see anything?' And he said 'no.' He said, 'Did you hear anything?' He said 'no.'"

The next morning he found out that Till's lynched body had been dumped in the Tallahatchie River.

And what exactly the purpose of this Naomi writer dredging all this up? Is it because the victim was another Trayvon?

Maybe she could go back to 1964 and revisit who actually played a substantive part in the 1964 Civil Rights Act, whose FATHER Senator voted tried to kill it (GORE), what happened in 1954 in Arkansas.

Go on, stir that racism pot once more. Maybe she can keep hate alive a while longer.

It is an obituary about a man who played a key role in American history that happened to be about Jim Crow America, I don’t think its just being ‘dredged up’ for no reason.

And why bring up “Jim Crow’s America” at this particular time? Why not three years ago, or three years from now. Why NOW? It is being dredged up just like all the other stuff blacks are using to get a bite hold on Stand Your Ground Laws, Gun Control, sentencing, all that jazz.

I don’t buy that argument one bit.

“Jim Crow’’. Another thing we can thank the Democrat Party for. Right up there with slavery, The Confederate States of America, succession, The Civil War and the Ku Klux Klan.

Because the guy was a key witness in the Emmett Till Case, whose obituary it is didn’t die 3 years ago, he died a few days ago.

The irony! The irony!

Today it is the white victim who was attacked by the racist black thug, for “disrespecting” him. Zimmerman is a white Emmet Till with a gun who saved his own life at the last minute.

In 1955,the black witness in the story went into hiding to escape being murdered by racist thugs. Today it is the white victim of the racist attack who must hide for fear of his life.

Emmit Till is remembered in the history books. Statues, memorials, streets and highways have been named in his honor. Yet there many “white Emmet Tills”, white Americans who have been brutally murdered by black racist thugs who felt “disrespected” and their names have been dropped down the Memory Hole.

Here are a few examples:

Thomas Cunningham Murdered in front of his young daughter when his dog “dissed” a black thug by sniffing him.

Chris Kernich, Beaten to death after he “dissed” some black thugs by yelling “Watch where you are going” after almost being run down by their car.

Evelyn Wagler Burned alive for “dissing” black thugs by being seen walking on the sidewalk in a black neighborhood.

Darrel Johnson Beaten to death for “dissing” 3 black thugs by walking with a cane near his home.

James Wilbur Lybrand III Shot in the head for”dissing” black thugs by walking on a public street.

Troy Knapp Beaten to death for dissing a black mob by riding his bicycle on a public street

Jerry Newington Brutally stomped to death by black mob for dissing them with his presence on a public street

Wendy Fisher. Gunned down by a black thug in front of her home for “disrespecting him by yelling at his speeding car to slow down after it nearly ran over her dog

Kennia Durran and Julian Soler, both murdered in cold blood despite being helpless and cooperating with their attackers. Male victim “dissed” black thug because he “didnt seem scared enough” so they were gunned down.

Andrew Arosemena Shot in the head and murdered for dissing a car full of blacks blocking the exit of a parking garage by telling them to “Hurry up”

Carl Berry Beaten to death for dissing a group of 6 black thugs with the wrong kind of eye contact.

Gordon Rees Jr. Gunned down on the street for dissing blacks in a car driving recklessly by yelling for them to slow down.

These documented cases and many more, complete with photos of the victims at this link:

Really? And of the countless murder of whites not related to ‘Jim Crow’ what of those? Are they of lesser value? Are they not ‘historic’? Do you think the race industry and MSM had anything to do with Till being ‘historic’?

I realize that, but if the Trayvon hoopla had not been ongoing, this article wouldn’t have made it off the back pages, but LAT had to import this story from Nix at the Chicago Tribune.....just another black writer trying to keep the race card alive.

He changed his name and lived for many years. Might work for George Zimmerman, excepting he will probably require plastic surgery to make his slip back into society a success.

Google Louis Till, Emmett's father, who was executed by the U.S. Army in 1945 for rape and murder.
