Sitting behind the podium of a Florida courtroom, Richard Mantei commanded the stage with the same dramatic prowess as a professional thespian.
He tilted his head closer to the jury, raised his eyebrows in an expression of mockery, and craftily paced his speech with the poise of someone who has navigated the judicial system for 18 years.
There are two people involved here: One of them is dead and one of them is a liar, Mr. Mantei said
.
.
.
In fifth grade, Mr. Mantei said he took the stage in an elementary school production of A Christmas Carol, playing the role of Tiny Tim in the popular novella by Charles Dickens. Later, Mr. Mantei honed his acting skills by performing in several musicals for his high school's drama club an experience that well prepared him to enter the world of legal litigation and trials.

For those who watched the trial. Total fluff piece. I think all of the State attorneys were awful, over-the-top and annoying. I also think every single one of them knew George Zimmerman was innocent.

“Honed his skills in high school drama productions?” Whew. I am surprised that stretch did not snap back to bite the author.

Absolutely agree with you kevcol...I watched the trial everyday from the time the juror was picked until the verdict was given...I always referred to Mantei as a little Bernie De La Rionda minime...couldn't stand the guy...his arrogance is about as bad as Obama's...

What a waste of print. Why would anyone celebrate this guy? He is, at best, an incompetent failure of a prosecutor. At worst, he is a liar who knowingly brought charges against an innocent man. He should be swinging in the wind, in my opinion.

I watched every minute of the trial, too.
This guy thought he was a real hot shot, and seemed to often play to the tv camera, IMO.
However bad he was, though—it was the judge that I wanted to jump through the screen and bi#ch slap on several occasions. How Zimmerman’s lawyers were able to overcome all of this was gratifying to me.
I was also impressed with the way Mr, Zimmerman was able to sit there hour and hour, day after day, without altering the expression on his face.

Mantei is nothing but an arrogant little prick that needs to go back to his chemistry classes. He certainly is not a good prosecutor as was demonstrated fully in the Zimmerman trial.
I too watched the trial and each time he came up to speak, he was condescending and arrogant which turned me against him IMMEDIATELY. Definitely would not want him representing me.

Thespian is a great way of describing him!
He acted as 5bough GZ was guilty when in fact he was defending his very life.

Mantei is the slimer who sprung the states request for a child abuse/murder 3 charge against GZ. Good bet that even today he's losing his lunch money.

From the article it would seem that Mr. Mantei was that smart mouthed little kid that everyone couldn’t stand that ended up getting stuffed in a locker after gym class in Jr. High.
HS drama club, think Glee!

Primadonna?I dont think so,
Pussy yes.
I am also willing to bet he was “picked on” big time through out his school days.

I too watched the trial and each time he came up to speak, he was condescending and arrogant which turned me against him IMMEDIATELY. Definitely would not want him representing me. Half the Lawyers today finished in the bottom half of their class. The Most of top Half went to work for themselves, Corporatations, Large Legal Firms etc. A few become Judges.
The bottom Half start in the Public Defenders office just to earn a buck, the real slimey bastards hire into the Prosecutors Offices or Friend of the Courts-Child Custody areas. Then the Peter Principal takes effect. The worst end up as Prosecuting Attorneys ruining peoples lives just for the power trip.
