Huma Abedin has graduated from sympathetic victim to pathetic enabler. I felt bad for Abedin in 2011 when, as a newly married and pregnant wife, her congressman husband, Anthony Weiner, embroiled her in his sexting scandal. With a baby on the way, she chose to stick with the marriage -- a decision others must respect.
Weiner, of course, is the selfish cur who ran for New York mayor fully knowing that the decision would drag his wife and son through more muck. It was inevitable that one of his sexting friends would air his dirty lingo, plaster his cheesy pickup lines all over the Internet and, worse, release more photos. With more pixels.
Those pictures tell a thousand words. Starting with: no self-control, no character, no brains.
Then there's the portrait of the wronged wife standing by her no-good spouse in front of a packed news conference. "Anthony's made some horrible mistakes, both before he resigned from Congress and after," Abedin told reporters, "but I do very strongly believe that that is between us and our marriage."
Like the patricidal orphan, the New York power couple actually suggested that the media not make too big an issue of Weiner's selfies -- because he's married.
Now, if Abedin wanted to stay with Weiner because their marriage is sacrosanct, that's her private business. But she had no business pushing his candidacy for public office, under the fiction that he has his demons under control and voters can trust him, because they can trust her.
The latest Quinnipiac poll, mostly taken before Tuesday's news conference, shows Weiner ahead of City Council President Christine Quinn and the rest of the Democratic pack. Never underestimate the benefits of name identification and the public's desire to give fallen politicians a second chance.
On the campaign trail, The New York Times reported, Weiner liked to talk about the "arc of the hero" as he weaved his tale of woe with stories about Nelson Mandela and Franklin D. Roosevelt. Somehow, after Weiner emerged from a period of painful introspection, this congressman known mainly for his ability to self-promote emerged thinking he is in the league of men who did big things.
May his arc turn into a fast dive.
I cannot believe that New Yorkers would elect a mayor whom staffers cannot trust alone with a smartphone. And fuggedabout the spate of sexual harassment lawsuits on the horizon that name the city and Weiner's nom de plume of "Carlos Danger."
Abedin's longtime boss, Hillary Clinton, won a U.S. Senate seat for New York after her extraordinary service as a long-suffering wife. So now there are murmurs that Abedin should run for mayor.
Forget those lugs who have been going to boring meetings, balancing budgets and setting policy when they could have been tweeting. Bigfoot blogger Nate Silver tweeted before the news conference, "Huma should have run for mayor; she'd win in a landslide."
No, public office is not a consolation prize for women with rotten taste in husbands. It is a public trust.
Sexting is nothing and won’t prevent him from a high NY office... but if he REALLY did something utterly horrific, like, say, homicide or murder, they voters would shun him!
Oh wait, I’m from MA. I guess I can’t claim that, can I...
“Cur” is a good word. It’s seldom used anymore but conveys just the right image of filth and bad breeding.
Well, Huma has done the scripted stand by your man thing, now liberals can be happy and move on. Say it’s old news, and all that.
I’ve never understood how, if Huma is a good Muslim, how she can be married to someone Jewish. Maybe Huma isn’t a good Muslim, but an apostate Muslim????
What is it about her husband that when he looks down at his ‘package’ he thinks “I gotta get a picture of this!” and send it to people?
I think we can push her over the edge.
Start asking her all the time if she likes her husband’s “package” and “does he always take pictures of his ‘package’?” and “are you as impressed with his ‘package’ as he is?” and etc. etc.
I bet we can get her to try to scratch his eyes out right there at a press conference
Clinton married them, literally. He was the officiant.
They are close, personal friends of Hill and Bill.
What does anyone expect.
Sicko! And that applies to both of them. He for his actions and she for putting up with them. Just your typical Arab wife I guess, but so hungry to live in Gracie Mansion.
Huma is a lesbian former Hillary Clinton aid with ties to the Muslim brotherhood and other Muslim terrorists.
It is truly a match made in hell.
Yes, indeed. It would appear that Huma is married more to Hill AND Bill than any marriage to weenerboy.
maybe the plan IS for her to run for office...nothing surprises me with these people.
I'm beginning to wonder, in my fevered mind, that this second episode has been coordinated and played out for Huma Abedin's benefit. Arrange Weiner to do something stupid, so Huma can be painted as the dutiful hero, and voila! Instant backstory for a future political career.
Put a burka over her head and everything will seem,
This should make people wonder what she’s after in getting her husband elected to Mayor of America’s most influential city.
Huma will end up being the female muslim Obama that will win the presidential election in 2026, and we will kick ourselves for not doing more to derail her political career when we could.
huma (from a family involved heavily with the moozlum brotherhood terrorists) gains continuing access. moozlums want to kill you and your family.
Wow, nice summation. I was thinking that it IS Bill and Hillary Clinton 2.0. Ambitious woman marries a sex addict who can't control himself. Plays dutiful wife while trying to cover up for his rampant sex life. Stands by her man, while raising money for the campaign because she wants the power that she believes he can get her. Yup, Bill and Hill.
Also, the rumors of her being a "lesbian" fits the profile as well. I'm just waiting for someone to come out and say that he has to look for stuff elsewhere because she isn't really that into men.
“public office is not a consolation prize for women with rotten taste in husbands. It is a public trust.”
Incredible as it must seem, this author has never heard of democrats, or he’d never have stated the above.
Another theory about HumaWeiner’s loyalty is the muslim culture, in which married men can do pretty much anything they want, to include affairs, rape, gang rape, multiple “wives,” all while the little woman keeps her mouth shut.
SHE’s the one with high political hopes! Like hillary, she will pretend to stick by him and ride the wagon to first lady.
You haven't covered all possible angles with this. Consider this, if she is acting as an intelligence operative, it is quite possible that she could well be a "good Muslim", and still be married to Weiner...
The more I see of Huma Abedin's behavior, the more I am convinced she is what I pegged her as, when she first entered the US political scene. She is a well trained intelligence operative, working for less than friendly foreign powers. Whether that power is the Muslim Brotherhood, or Saudi Intelligence, or even both simultaneously, remains to be seen.
She has *publicly* done some things which a 'normal' Muslim woman would never do, because doing such, without some undeclared, but official sanction, would be literally fatal.
She is, in fact, no more a 'lesbian' than I am, but as Hillary's 'handler' would engage in lesbian sex to further her assignment vis-a-vis Hillary Clinton. Further, a marriage to a Jew would be quite problematic, given the Muslim Brotherhood connections in her immediate family, unless it was an *assignment* for the advancement of Islamic/Muslim Brotherhood aims.
In short, she may well have had sex with *both* Hillary Clinton, and Anthony Weiner, but personal feelings never entered into it at all, it is just a job, to her...
