Freedom Party--What Would it Look like?

Posted on 07/25/2013 8:49:59 AM PDT by cradle of freedom

There has been talk about having a new party, some have called it the Freedom Party. If there were to be a Freedom Party what would be the party platforms?

Here are some thoughts that I have and I would welcome your suggestions.

1) Based on the Constitution 2) Government that serves not rules people 3) Restoring power to the individual citizen, towns and states 4)Respect for life from conception to natural death 5) Respects moral institutions based on the Ten Commandments 6) Respect for the hard earned money of the tax payers 7) Protecting self defense and 2nd Ammendment rights 8) An immigration policy that is based on what is good for Americans

They wear funny short pants?

Okay! I’d still join. But no powdered wigs, I have to draw a line somewhere.

We need a presidential candidate who wants to be an administrator and not a leader.

Americans do not need a leader, and the world certainly doesn’t want one either.

The American president needs to be an administrator of finances only, a CFO.

How about supporting the ideas found in the Constitution and the republican principals of the nation’s founding? No need to reinvent the wheel, just explain to people exactly what it is.

A true party of “Freedom” would look very libertarian in nature, and turn a lot of people off, because the operative word associated with “freedom” is “responsibility”

There are a few of these small parties that can be merged into one national third party

There is already a libertopian party focused on celebrating drugs and lewdness. We do not need another. We need a party that believes in traditional conservatism.

There are already lots of 3rd parties, why would you think a new one would go anywhere? What about all the hype about the Constitution party last election cycle? It utterly bombed, just like anyone who understands why 3rd parties don’t work in the US predicted.

There’s not going to be a viable 3rd party. Period. Even Ron Paul and Lyndon LaRouche figured this out.

It would be conservative, the problem with the GOP is that it is becoming libertarian and losing it’s conservative base.

The GOP is losing voters for being anti-conservative, not pro-conservative.

We want the whole conservative package, economic and cultural, aside from our traditional American religious beliefs, social liberalism literally creates and breeds economically liberal voters and socialists.

That is very pessimistic view. I think, Tea Party success is contrary to your point. All that is missing is a charismatic leader with clear program to organize Tea Party into real political power. As of multitude of smaller parties - there is nothing wrong with political coalitions, works fine in Europe.

We need a presidential candidate who wants to be an administrator and not a leader.

A president is supposed to preside, and lead -- not dictate.

Leadership is a positive influence, and one rarely seen.

Our nation was founded on a freedom of religion plank, and this “freedom” plank doesn’t meet that standard.

You can’t have a government based on the constitution, and also have one based on the Ten commandments. It violates freedom of religion. This is exactly what the founding fathers warned against.

i should add that the Constitution’s input would be limited to the original founding document and selected amendments mostly pre 1900.
