Occidental Petroleum Corp. plans to construct a propane export facility in Ingleside, the company said Thursday.
The facility would be at the Oxy Ingleside Energy Center, a former Navy base near Corpus Christi that Occidental purchased last year.
The Los Angeles-based oil and natural gas producer said it also could export other fuels from the facility, including natural gasoline, condensate and butanes.
The propane export facility would begin operation in January 2015, provided Occidental secures the necessary contracts.
The United States has been exporting growing volumes of propane and other fuels as the nations oil and natural gas production has surged in recent years.
In 2012, the country exported about 171,000 barrels per day of propane and the petrochemical that it produces, propylene. Thats more than double the volume exported in 2009, when about 85,000 barrels of propane and propylene were exported each day.
natural gasoline
where do you get that. I thot it had to distilled or cracked
You wouldn’t do well with it in a modern vehicle.
Natural Gasoline is the name that was long ago give to the “Pentanes Plus” group of natural gas liquids, a mixture of C5H12 and heaver molecules separated out raw Natural Gas. It can be used in blending stocks for creating gasoline, or as a feedstock used in Petrochemical plants. It also is getting some use as a solvent to dilute bitumen and make it capable of being pumped in pipelines to refineries from the Canadian oil sands.
