Paul Ryan Hints at Immigration Timetable
Roll Call ^ | 7-26-13 | Emma Dumain

Rep. Paul D. Ryan might have just given away the road map for House consideration of immigration reform.

“Tentatively, in October, we’re going to vote on a border security bill, an interior enforcement bill, a bill for legal immigration,” the Wisconsin Republican and Budget Committee chairman told constituents at a district town hall event Friday, according to a report by the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel.

Ryan also reportedly said negotiations were underway for the chamber to vote on legislation that would provide undocumented immigrants with “probationary” visas while they waited a minimum of 15 years to attain citizenship.

The timetable is more than most members will volunteer at this point other than to say there won’t likely be any major action before the August recess, which kicks off in one week.

Lawmakers have also been reticent to discuss what specific bills will be brought to the floor and in what sequence as part of the GOP piecemeal approach to immigration reform.

The 2012 Republican candidate for vice president on Mitt Romney’s ticket and a rising star within the Republican Party, Ryan has only recently begun to lend his voice — and influence — to the chorus of calls to reform the nation’s immigration system.

Asked to confirm whether Ryan’s statements were accurate, a GOP leadership aide said there were “no scheduling announcements to make.”

He will be joining Marco Rubio as another GOP-E sellout.

He has discarded any Principles whatsoever, trying to save his job.

Paul Ryan is a gutless wonder. He’s basically a Moderate Democrat who used the GOP to get elected.

This is the same guy who crafted a budget that takes 10 years to come into balance.

Paul Ryan has no balls whatsoever.

Who’s behind taking both Rubio and Ryan out with the immigration bill? It’s been a brilliant move to not only get an immigration bill passed that will essentially destroy what’s left of our country (and our party), AND take out two of our most promising future Republican leaders.

Rubio and Ryan are showing they aren’t too bright.

How convenient!

If Ryan’s ten year plan to stop deficit spending and Willard choosing him for the VP slot were not strong enough indications of his RINO nature, now we have this.

I have a timetable too. Prepare to be primaried about ten months or so from October, Mr. Ryan.

This perfectly illustrates the corporate interests and their absolute control of this party.

The money is flowing.

Agreed.

He got his political start in college volunteering on Boehner’s campaign and he’s still in his orange mentor’s pocket.

Apparently there’s only a handful of Republicans with any core principles whatsoever and Ryan and Rubio aren’t in that group. These gutless wonders misrepresented themselves to get elected and now sell us down the river in a heartbeat. It’s sickening!

Paul Ryan is a pathetic disappointment. He is a phony whore, elitist like the rest of them. He took an oath. Hope his district votes democrat. At least they are honest about who they are. Sells out his own children.

we’re going to vote on a border security bill, an interior enforcement bill, a bill for legal immigration

How about a bill that requires, under penalty, our current immigration officers to enforce the @#$%$ EXISTING law? Throw in a strong border fence and stiff enforcement against employers hiring illegals, and the problem will "magically" disappear.

Under ANY law this Congress will pass, the law will be ignored within a year, and we'll be right back in the same boat, only worse.

I find this issue particularly infuriating because I have immigrant friends who ARE obeying the law, and they get f%cked by the system for it.

The Tea Party’s greatest victory in Congress so far has been to push through an Amnesty Bill.

Think about that while you’re job hunting. :D

In Ryan’s defense, has there ever been a reason to think he is conservative on immigration? I think he’s always been a liberal on immigration, which is no surprise considering his association with pro-mass immigration, and pro-racial preferences Jack Kemp.

I don’t know if his leftwing views on immigration are due more to a libertarian streak or his Catholicism, but I’m glad he’s been revealed for favoring the continued and increased importation of future Democrats.

Is that what you call “defense”? The only course of action left is for the Tea Party to completely destroy the GOP. The whole damn party stinks of Carl Rove. I’m sick of Democrats and Democrat Lites.

If they get any kind of document whatsoever, they’ll be able to vote.
