Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes invites Kentuckians to her official campaign kickoff, tells personal stories, and speaks directly to her potential opponent Kentucky U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell in her first campaign video released Thursday.
Toward the end of the ad, Grimes addresses McConnell directly by saying now this part is for you, Senator McConnell. Grimes goes on to hit McConnell on his voting record on issues including the Paycheck Fairness Act, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the Violence Against Women Act and more.
Your campaign wants to play silly games about where I am and where I stand. Well Im right here in Kentucky, senator, where Ill be holding you accountable, Grimes says to McConnell in the ad.
The video, titled The Campaign Begins, lasts close to four minutes and shows Grimes seated in the same dining room as her most memorable 2011 campaign ad featuring her grandmothers. Grimes relates the new video to the ad with the line from her grandmother Thelma government should either help create jobs or get out of the way.
Grimes tells viewers she still firmly believes in that idea and says it is a lesson a certain Kentucky Senator has never learned.
Grimes official campaign kick-off event is on July 30 in Lexington.

Good for Mitch for voting against those abominations.
I don’t mind Mcconnell being ousted. He is an incompetent Republican leader.
Mitch McC is proof that Kentuckians are “low information voters”.
Bevin is going to crush this dim. mcconnell has a new pasture in his future.
