Conservative leaders allege the media are trying to ignore the once high-profile scandals overshadowing the Obama administration, as President Obama and his aides aggressively push the claim that these controversies are "phony."
The "phony scandal" line was the unofficial talking point of the week in Washington. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney made it his fallback retort from the podium -- when asked about the president's new wave of speeches on the economy, Carney explained Obama was trying to refocus Washington away from "fake" controversies.
For three speeches in a row, Obama hammered this refrain: "With this endless parade of distractions and political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball."

I don’t think the media is “buying in” to the phony scandal narrative. I think that they’re just following orders that they’re now to refer to the scandals as phony. It’s top down.
Buying into it? The media are in on the act!

Instead of inventing a question to pose, and not answer.
It seems to me, THAT'S what 'news' is anymore ... ask a question and do nothing with it.

My daughter, her husband and I went out to dinner with a liberal friend of theirs. He was upset about NSA surveilance and other scandals. I mentioned the use of the IRS to target political opponents.
He immediately said: They went after everyone, it was not just conservatives. I said no, that is not true, the scandal is reaching higher all the time.
He said, “that is not what I read”. My daughter was unconvinced either way, and I did not wish to spoil the dinner.

Why wait for the media. Congress needs to force the issue and start throwing people in jail for perjury if they lie, firing people that take the 5th and eventually they will get to the bottom of all the scandals. Not everybody on that side is willing to take one for the Obama team.

The Mother of dead SEAL Shawn Smith in Benghazi was told he died because of a video. She was also told by Hillary that she woud be given full information and they would keep in touch with her. She is insulted by Benghazi being called a phony scandal.
This President is guilty of deflection, distraction, and division at the least.
The way the game is played it’s a team effort.
Obama gives the media the ammunition and they fire the gun.
The media doesn’t really have to buy into Obama’s theatrics or manufactured crises.
Obama just has to give them some sort of a claim or an issue they can run with.
Something like the “War On Women”.
The issue doesn’t have to be real or even something the media will necessarily believe.
In fact, the media does’t care if an Obama accusation is true or not.
It just has to be something they can sell to the foolish and ill informed.
The "news" media simply take the DNC talking points and regurgitate them as news. They are the propaganda arm of King Zero.
