Conservative leaders allege the media are trying to ignore the once high-profile scandals overshadowing the Obama administration, as President Obama and his aides aggressively push the claim that these controversies are "phony."
The "phony scandal" line was the unofficial talking point of the week in Washington. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney made it his fallback retort from the podium -- when asked about the president's new wave of speeches on the economy, Carney explained Obama was trying to refocus Washington away from "fake" controversies.
For three speeches in a row, Obama hammered this refrain: "With this endless parade of distractions and political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball."

And the Reagan Administration was infected with the “Sleaze Factor.” LOL! Maybe Ryan, Rubio, Boehner, Cantor. McConnell,McCain, Graham could resurrect the term here? Oh wait. Then we would have an opposition.
Yeah most likely Media Matters
Meanwhile, you’ve got statist RINOs like Christie out there defending it.
I watched and recorded it
I'm thinking they've got about 1.80 control of the two.
20 - check.
21 - check.
They’re not “buying” it, they’re selling it.
Here’s how it works.
Americans are basically stupid and lazy, BUT they think of themselves as intelligent and capable.
The propaganda ministry simply devises a two or three word catchphrase (like “phony scandal”) and shotguns it out via pressers, presidential remarks and comments by the usual prominent party figures. This magic phrase will immediately give the rank and file a nice, prepackaged retort with which they can successfully deflect any criticism of the guy they supported. Any and all arguments, no matter how well-reasoned and fact-based, can then be dismissed by uttering the catchphrase. No investigation of facts or construction of counter-arguments needs to take place.
Besides the ones who helped write the talking points?
Thanks Kaslin.
If Obama told reporters the moon was made of frozen cat piss the The New York Times would believe him.

Nicely done.
Now, ALL "debate" from liberals and Dems will begin and end armed with the simplest Nuclear Talking Point ever devised: "BAH! PHONY SCANDAL!!" Best of all, it'll work today, tomorrow, by the water cooler, at the dinner table, on bumper stickers, T-shirts, placards, TV shows, and "editorials." It's another, "It's the Economy Stupid!" MSM soundbyte.
What "scandals"?? Boehner already officially confirmed through the MSM, Carney, and 0'Gangsta that it winds up that ALL the scandals were "phoney!" All 99 of them.
Now put on your red, green and white ribbon along with Boehner and Cantor and McCain, and start marching for Immigration Reform, you racist homophobic, xenophobic Tea-Bagger.

:-)
The phrase "buying into" would imply that the media has some degree of independent thought, which of course they do not. The media simply does what the Dems tell them to do... and they are quite loyal and eager to please.
stupid question
the MSM always follow orders
