Supporters and experts say a gay couple's success is getting their out-of-state marriage recognized in Ohio despite a state ban could lead to a rush of similar cases aiming to take advantage of an apparent legal loophole.
John Arthur of Cincinnati is dying of Lou Gehrig's disease. A federal judge on Monday granted him the right to be listed as married on his death certificate and to have his partner of more than 20 years listed as his surviving spouse.

And by the way, Reagan appointed Kennedy. So the next time someone demands perfection in a candidate, remember that fact.
ON the issue at hand, this makes me sick to my stomach.
“...Gay marriage supporters are seeking to get the issue put on Ohio’s ballot next year or in 2016.”
It was banned in 2004 by 62%. It will probably be legalized the next time it goes to voters there...
Once again the courts favor the criminal element of our society.(Just because some corrupt legislature says something is not a crime does not alter the reality that certain behaviors are in fact criminal. Say for example the corrupt California legislature passed a law tomorrow to the effect that any person resisting any murderous assault by a person wearing a “Hoodie” and carrying Ice Tea and Skittles shall incur the death penalty. Does that “ Law” make a “Hoodie” assaulter less than a criminal? Does it make the person resisting a criminal?) There are things which are inherently wrong and Homosexuality is one of them, as is murder, theft, perjury etc.
America is DONE
Talk about finding the rainbow, how did you mange to squeeze in a commercial for rinos into this?
I happen to think no one candidate or politician is perfect. And every one of them has problems that can be considered “inexcusable”.
If you can’t see that simple fact, you’re a RINO.
Thanks Liberaltarians. Boy howdee ditching DOMA really worked out well for team us.
Yeah, nominating Romney really put us over the top.
Anyone who stayed home out of “purity” reasons is holding hands with Obamugabe as America’s power and influence and morality descends into the abyss.
That post didn’t make sense.
Proving that post 6 was spot on, you continue to push for the next rino, before we even know who is running.
At least give us a breather before you liberals start pushing to move left in 2014 and 2016.
“If God doesn’t punish America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” Ruth Bell Graham
? I am not a liberal. Merely making the point that Reagan gave us a disaster in Kennedy.
And Kennedy has forced sodomy down our throats via his position on the SCOTUS.
From that, following the logic of purists, then Reagan is to blame.
With the possible exception of Calvin Coolidge, Ronald Reagan is the conservative thinker’s MOST beloved President of the last 100 years.
Yet Reagan is to blame (if we strictly follow the purist interpretation of politics) for Kennedy and thus for this perversion from the federal judiciary.
I happen to disagree with the purist mode of thinking—while I also disagree with the Kennedy decision.
My point in passing was that NO CANDIDATE is going to do everything right. I would GLADLY have a President Romney today rather than the current occupier. And Romney wasn’t the perfect candidate. No one is.
You take that as an endorsement of RINOs? So be it. You’re wrong—it is realism.
Incredible ranting in an effort to drive FR to support the unnamed rinos of 2014 and 2016.
In your continued attack against Reagan of 25 and 30 years ago, perhaps you can work in more uses of the derogatory term “purists” as you fight for future rinos, to be named later.
Give it a rest romneybot.
By the way, your loser never appointed a single conservative judge, in fact exactly 75% of his appointees were not even republicans and he despised Reagan and “purists” so much and was such a “realist”, that he left the GOP, and eventually became a supporter of and fund raiser for democrat candidates.
The only way this is going to stop is by constitutional amendment. And it may be too late already ...
You have yet to refute my reasoning. You only have only engaged in ad hominem.
This behavior speaks a lot.
Goodnight, young one.
Something that Liz Cheney opposes, she also opposed DOMA, and was for ending DADT to homosexualize the military, and for homosexualizing the State dept. (and military) in regards to marriage.
