hannity is an idiot

he repeats talking points like a liberal on speed

he pretends he wants to talk to people, then cuts them off or talks over them

i cannot listen to him for more than 5 minutes

he has become the refuge for cookie cutter conservatives who think bumper stickers are well thought out political positions (some present company included)

listening to his show for three hours is akin to sitting in a bar next to a drunk who has three things to say- over and over and over and over

and each time he thinks it’s new and clever and you should be impressed

I have to agree. But I could listen to Mark Steyn for quite some time without getting bored.

The same reason I don't listen to, or watch, him anymore. Actually haven't for a couple of years.

Never heard it put that way before, but you're exactly correct and have caught myself screaming at the radio for him to stop repeating! Thank God for the station changer.

I stopped listening to Hannity years ago when I realized that, after listening to him for a period of time, I never learned anything listening to his show.

The other major reason for not listening to him is that he always makes the talk about himself. In some way he has to bring the discussion to about how "I visited that place. I know that guy." etc. It's nauseating.

“hannity is an idiot”

I would not go that far, but he is BORING for the reasons you have outlined. "i cannot listen to him for more than 5 minutes"

Yes, you nailed it exactly. Hannity's show is for reactionary conservatives; people that don't want to put too much thought into why they believe what they believe. Maybe there's some value in reaching out to those people, but I'm not one of them.

I can’t listen to Hannity.
If I do, I start talking like Hannity...

I'd be interested in knowing how the audience for Rush, Hannity, etc. splits on listening patterns. Radio isn't tv. TV viewers are couch potatoes. Most radio listeners are doing something, probably driving or working, and using the radio for company. Repetition is important in any message delivery format, but even more so if the audience is mobile, ever-changing, intermittent, focused on some other activity and only listening with one ear.

If you are in the habit of listening to Hannity or Rush for three hours at a stretch, I'd guess you're in a small minority. I'm an outlier in the other direction; I catch a few minutes now and then while driving, but rarely hear more than 10 minutes at a stretch. Hannity around here is late afternoon/early drive time; he's usually still on when I leave the office, but not for long. I rarely catch any of Rush unless I have a mid-day errand to run; otherwise I'm at my desk.

#11 - well stated. Yeah, I can’t listen to Hannity regurgitate what I knew far in advance of the same light dawning upon him.

You think Rush is any different? Since Øbama took office, that's all he talks about ... period.
When he's off on his latest golf trip, you could replay any of his shows since 2008 and never know he wasn't live.
And I'm not a Rush hater. Until 2-3 years ago, I listened for hours a day - since 1991 - back when he truly was cutting edge AND very entertaining.

Perhaps. But even he uses capital letters and punctuation.

I don’t think Sean is an “idiot” at all. He makes good sense for the most part until he falls for Karl Rove, Jebbie et a al. I just don’t listen to him that much; can’t listen to all of them. Levin is very good; but if one listened to them all, it would take the whole day nearly.

Caller: You’re a great American.
Hannity: You’re a great American

When I hear this, i often turn to another station.

good to hear your opinion, I though I was the only one that couldn't stand Hannity...The weird thing is when Hannity and Colmes had their tour and was in the Detroit area, my daughter got tickets to the show, live on TV Ollie North was their guest and it was a great show when you watch it live. Don't know why, but that time I enjoyed the show. Lots of breaks for sponsers I guess. Of course Ollie North is always fun to listen to...still don't watch him on TV or bother with his radio show...his voice just grates on me.

Your right, he is nothing but talking points...and not interesting to listen to.

Sean drives me out of my mind. What a horrible broadcaster he is! He has a meter and a sing-song pattern of speaking that is like fingernails on a blackboard to listen to. If his speech were measured on an oscilloscope, you would be able to visually witness the irksome, repetitive pattern.

Also maddening is the introductory “now” he inserts at the beginning of almost every sentence when he reads an ad. I used to think he had an idiot for a copywriter. I came to understand that the idiot is the copyreader. It's like listening to someone with Tourette's. (No offense to Tourette's sufferers, but I wouldn't consider broadcasting your best career choice.)

And then there are the names he can’t pronounce: Bernake instead of Bernanke, Matlin for Matalin, and others.

And amen to the one who said that he makes everything about him. If I have to here “little ol’ me” one more time, I’m going to punch something!!

I hope when Megyn comes to prime time, she’ll be replacing Sean. Or better yet, take Billo and Sean down to ½ hour each and give Megyn and Greta each their own hour.
