The governor expected to release more details about his personal finances this week.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott says he has less money now than he did when he first ran for governor.
A multi-millionaire who bankrolled most of his campaign, Scott has reported that his net worth has tumbled from more than $200 million to nearly $84 million.
But Floridians don't have a clear picture about his family finances.
Scott accepts only a $1 a year in salary. He has taken steps that keep his assets shielded from public view. He also has not disclosed the finances of his wife even though she controls the company that owns the jet he uses.
What the governor is doing is legal.

“Scott accepts only a $1 a year in salary”
If that is so, I don’t give a rip about his personal finances, he can keep that private
He doesn’t take a salary and people still complain.
What did he invest in Trayvon Martin futures???
I don't know much about Scott and don't much care. When politicians whine, they need to be reminded that no one forced them to run for office and no one is making them stay. They can quit, effective immediately.
He has “too much money”! He doesn’t need all that money! He needs to evenly distribute that money to black, hooded thugs. He’s evil! ~sarc
The tone of the article is odd. I read it and I get the message “Rick Scott is a shady character” but if I look at the words, he sounds like a successful, rich entrepreneur who is now a public servant and only costing the taxpayer $1. There’s nothing to see here. But I do think the tone is “Something’s not right”. I hate journalists.
IMO pretty dumb to go public with this.
The next time he does anything that appears even the slightest bit hinky the “he took a payoff” chatter is gonna be off the charts.
Is Rick Scott an Angela Corey Republican or a Debra Nelson Democrat?
So instead of $200 million, he has $84 million? SOmehow i dont feel all that sorry for him
Righty oh, he spent his money to get into office, commendable but stupid, and is still worth more than 99.7% of Americans. Have some cheese with that whine.
The media in Florida hate Rick Scott. They were probably given marching orders by the DNC. They were attacking him before he took office.
The Clintons went after Scott when he was in the private sector because he opposed Hillarycare.
Is he whining or answering financial questions put to him by the media?
According to wiki:
America’s Health Network (AHN)
Other work: In the 1990s, Scott was a partner of George W. Bush as co-owner of the Texas Rangers
Unless you've decided to spend the money on a lavish lifestyle or given it away to charity that's a precipitous drop in a short time. Of course it's not our business; it's his.
If he sold at a loss, he may have trouble recovering. But if he owns the stock he has always owned, and if the value of that stock has merely dipped, then he may bounce back in no time without ever really noticing.
This all seems quite silly.
He could have merely said I have lost significant assets and not detailed them. Not only is it not the presses business but it makes him look a bit smug.
If he’s that bad with his own money, how bad would he be with the taxpayers’ money.
That isn’t hard...
There are times one feels that Rick Scott is being overpaid by that one dollar....ie Pam Bondi and the entire Teyvon trial, etc. Not living in Florida, can say no more as not familiar with the entire situation. Do know how we feel/not feel regarding the Rube. However, Gov. Scott is an enigma.
Liberal envy. Who cares.
The Liberals have been whining about his money since he ran for office. These recent statements are just in response to further Liberal whining.
Of course it doesn't matter what the excuse is to the class warfare contingent on FR.
I’ll never understand conservatives bashing a successful person’s wealth/income. I understand people being mad at him over the Martin v Zimmerman trial, but this is stupid.
I don't either.
He was required by a new state law to file a detailed financial disclosure of his blind trust. He is not whining. Just complying with the law.
Governor Scott accepts the minimum salary necessary to be on the State payroll system for accounting purposes. He pays for his own health care.
