Deportation fears after dozens detained

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Around 50 children, adults and senior citizens on a bus from Grand Rapids to the Mexican Consulate in Detroit to process legal documents for citizenship were detained for hours Thursday. Some now fear they could be deported.

It happened when the driver missed an exit and the bus wound up on the Ambassador Bridge that crosses from Detroit to Windsor, Canada. Because many of the passengers were undocumented Mexican immigrants, they were detained for hours by federal officials.

"Neither the Consul or the people from the Hispanic Center told us we were in any kind of trouble, but we knew we were," one of the passengers, who 24 Hour News 8 is not identifying, said in Spanish. She was on the bus with her husband and two children.

After being detained for 12 hours, she and her children -- along with most of the other passengers -- were released. Her husband is still being held in the Calhoun County Jail because he had prior run-ins with the law. Two others were also taken to that jail for previous offenses.

When I go to B.C. I have to wait forever in line to get back to the U.S. Why isn’t the Southern border as secure?

This is one reason why...Mexico actually produces an official guidebook to entering the U.S. illegally (Photos)
In 2004, columnist Rick Oltman broke the story that the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs had produced a 32-page “How To” guide for Mexican nationals crossing the border illegally into the United States. Despite the fact that this pamphlet has known to the public for 9 years, and has the official endorsement of the Mexican government, the mainstream press has completely ignored what amounts to an instruction manual for illegal aliens.View slideshow: Guide for the Mexican Migrant
While Mexcio publicly claims to be working with U.S. authorities in stemming the flow of illegal aliens into this country, this booklet tells another story and is further evidence of their complicity. After all, illegal immigration is big business for Mexico, as remittances (wire transfers) from the United States represents Mexico’s second most lucrative industry, behind oil exports.

“Dear fellow citizen:

This guide tries to provide you with some practical advice that may be useful to you in case you have made the difficult decision to seek new work opportunities outside of your own country.

Dangers of Crossing in High-Risk Zones

Crossing the river can be very risky, especially if you cross alone and at night.

Thick clothing increases your weight when wet and makes it hard to swim or float.

If you cross in the desert, try to travel when the heat is not so intense.

Highways and towns are very far apart, so that it could take you several days to find roads and you will not be able to carry food or water for that long; you could get lost.

Salted water helps you retain body fluids. Although you get more thirsty, if you drink salted water the risk of dehydration is lessened.

Oh Horrors

We gotta go back to Mexico!

It’s amazing that they start panicing at the thought of that.

To listen to them, Latin America is Paradise that Must Be Recreated Here.

Yet another reason I am no longer a Republican.

That's the least of our woes.
We are no longer functional American citizens; Illegal invaders and their little bastards have more rights than we do.

Take out of state tuition, for starters; Food stamps, housing subsidies etc.
More illegals drive SUVs (including Escalades,) than ordinary working middle class Americans I know.
I always shake my head when I meet these illegals at the local supermarket, using their food stamp credit cards, and loading the groceries into an SUV

How can they afford the gas?
