Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would consider backing the two legislators in a showdown that the Times described as "a test of whether politicians, largely Democrats, outside big cities and deep-blue coastal states can survive the political fallout of supporting stricter gun laws."
By dint of his dedication to the issue and deep pockets, Bloomberg has used his Mayors Against Illegal Guns to make himself the modern-day face of the gun control movement.
After reading this morning's newspaper about two like-minded legislators under duress, Bloomberg wrote himself a note to "check" if Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the organization he co-founded and funds, would support the two Democrats against the N.R.A.

What an arrogant *ss!
Not sure who's under duress here: Bloomie, the legislators, or if the writicator meant that the legislators' campaigns were in "distress".
To tell the truth, it's a test of whether this slime ball Socialist can buy a corrupt election west of the Mississippi.
Holy Word Salad, Batman!
I would be happy to have bloomy waste millions of his $$ fighting an angry electorate.
Voters are sufficiently mad at anti-gunners to the point I could run and beat them.
FK Bloomturd, A**hole.
Bloomberg would get out the conservative backlash so fast...
How dare Bloomberg impose his views on people in other states? Who made him the decider in chief? I really dislike this man.
They’re still desperately trying to frame this as “citizens vs the NRA” and nobody’s buying. The NRA isn’t really all that involved in the Colorado recalls...yet. If Bloomie wants to pick a fight there, though, I’ll break out the checkbook.
A lot of news coming out of Colorado over this.
Your ping list is going to have a meltdown as the recall election gets closer, george76.
;-)
Proponents seeking to recall Morse El Paso Freedom Defense Committee submitted 16,198 petition signatures. The secretarys office accepted 10,137 of the signatures. The campaign needed only 7,178.
Thanks RandallFlagg.
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)

I’m thinking that Bloomberg’s presence in Colorado will only motivate those in the recall movement even more. I know that here in Texas, having Bloomberg announce as supporting one’s opponent would be a gift from the gods.
Bloomie wants to fight the NRA , even though this is a Colorado grass roots operation.
Proponents of ousting Giron Pueblo Freedom and Rights submitted 13,466 signatures. Only 818 were rejected; they needed 11,285.

Bloomers thinks he is Marcus Licinius Crassus of Rome. Richest man in 1st century BC.
Arrogant. Dictatorial. Bought power. Had his own army. Caesar thought him rather slow and stupid.
Contributed greatly to the collapse of the Republic.
Over reached by trying to win military glory.......how hard could that be?Picked on some horse riding country boys called the Parthians.
Wound up defeated, humiliated and finally as a severed head on a silver platter.
Here’s hoping history repeats itself......send him home spanked and poorer Colorado!
Bloomie would much rather swamp the locals with cash and then declare victory over the NRA. The latter would be silly to let that happen, and I don't think they will.
I’d like NYC Bloomberg show up with his bus tour in Colorado pushing his recalled and 2 favorite socialist candidates.
This is like the Mayor of Duluth talking trash to the King of Spain.
Who gives a crap what this mayor thinks?
Seeing Bloomberg enter the fray would certainly make any self-respecting gun owner come out to defeat anyone he was backing.
I'd have to think that if it became known that New York City mayor Blomberg was sticking his fingers in our local politics, it would work against him.
Other than pissing away more of his own money, what could bloomingidiot do beyond running his mouth and convincing no one of anything?

I’m not familiar with these recall districts, but Colo has gone from solid red to solid blue really fast.
+5 Bush in 2004 to +5 Obama 2012.
Left coast move-ins and a swarm of illegals per local commenters.....
Illinois congressional candidate Debbie Halvorson claimed that voters were “personally outraged” by Mayor Bloomberg’s attempt to influence the race for the seat vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr.,in Chicago.
Bloombergs Independence USA PAC spent about $2.3 million on ads attacking Halvorson

Good news!
bloomberg would jump in as a sacrificial anode to protect the democrat party. He would be the face of evil instead of the democrat party.
This is about protecting 2014
Bloomie will not set foot in colorado.
He can’t survive outside of NYC or the Hamptons.
Has the NRA even been involved at all up to this point? If they are, I haven't seen anything being reported on their involvement. If the NRA is going to be accused of being involved, they might as well go ahead and really do it. :=)
