Were building a movement of fast food workers in a way that has never really existed in the fast food industry, said Jonathan Westin, an organizer for New York Communities for Change, who noted that this week is the first time the strikes have been coordinated across cities.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus launched a campaign called Raise Up America which has taken efforts to associate itself with the fast food workers. Several members of the caucus, including its co-chair, Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, were present at Mondays actions in New York.
Similarly, Brooklyn-based McDonalds employee Kareem Starks said he has little to lose by going out on strike.
I dont make much, Starks said. I get treated like crap. At he end of the day, should I stand up or take this? Should I stand up or live like this? I cant afford my shoes or afford my rent. Is that how youre supposed to be living?

If you can't afford shoes...move back into Mom's basement.
I wouldnt buy burgers from those idiots..they want 15 dollars an hour they should at least learn how to flip a burger correctly
Wow, no brainer to figgure Mr Community Organizers party is behind this group
Here is what will happen with your union. You will be fired or simply not scheduld and people who will work for what the pay is..
Remember its AN ENTRY LEVEL JOB..not a upward Career move
I hear wet grass.
Poor choices of whether to get an education are now starting to have a direct effect...
They could always try the whole “settle down, get married and have a two income family thing.”
then you should have paid attention in high school and gone to college
There were about 5 of them at Ellsworth McDonald’s today. None of them looked like they worked there. They were all 60 or older. The crew at this store are all young. I gave them a good yelling at while driving by.
I’ll bet you could afford shoes (forget the Nikes) and rent if you DOWNGRADE your “smart” phone.
They should be grateful they’re not being paid what they’re worth.

The guys sign says I am a man.
Well if you a man grow up & act like one. A real man learns how to provide for himself & his family. Until you do that you ain’t no man & will get no respect from me.
That is what happens when you rapcrap on 12 years of free education and don’t learn adult job skills.
Then why are you working at a kid's job?
Big Mama in top pic needs to go on a hunger strike instead.
Will do her wonders....
is there a segment of the consumers spending that is any less needed than fast food? if these idiots get the costs up even a nickle they’ll get laid off anyway because of lower sales.
they picked the wrong type of business.
have you tasted those burgers lately?
it just goes to show you its all organized by the marxists.
Let me see if I have this right.
These snot nosed little twits are whining that they do not make enough in an entry level, food service job. A job that historically never paid more than minimum wage.
The whiny little bastids want more money and are going to extort their business with a walk off and “one day strike” to achieve that end.
When the manager could just as easily and quickly hire a bunch of kids to replace those leaving.
And these idiots actually think they have a chance of succeeding?!!!
I call BS. I can get a pair of running shoes at Walmart for $10, usually last 2-3 months.
