At least they brought charges against him ... unlike most of the traitors.

Listening to CBS radio now (Rush station): Sounds like Manning IS guilty of five espionage counts which could still keep him in prison for up to 150 years.

CBS radio saying: This is a "symbolic victory for Manning".

I listened to a military lawyer discussing this on F&F this morning. Manning has already pled guilty to about 20 of 40 charges. He’s going to be locked up a number of years.

According to this retired JAG officer, the problem with the “aiding the enemy” charge is that it’s nearly impossible to prove without direct evidence.

Interesting. I guess if this was regarded as giving aid and comfort, obama couldn’t safely give half a billion dollars to ME terrorists and release 5 Gitmo detainees to appease Afghanistan prior to surrender talks...

From the Politico article on the "acquital":

"If convicted on all charges apart from aiding the enemy, Manning faced a potential sentence of up to 154 years."

Exactly. The headline should be changed. He wasn't "acquitted," he just wasn't convicted on one of the charges against him.

Unless Obama gives him a pardon, we won’t be on the outside for the rest of his life.

The pardon may be issued, Marc Rich style, on January 19, 2017, in the late evening hours.
