Folks looking for work in the Des Moines metro will have a chance to meet up with potential employers Wednesday.
The Des Moines NAACP is holding a job fair from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Wellmark at 1331 Grand Avenue.
Forty employers will be represented at the fair including Wellmark, Wells Fargo, Iowa DOT, Mercy, DART and many others.
Help will also be on hand for job seekers to write cover letters and resumes, to set up mock interviews and more.

As someone who worked as a veteran’s rep. and job skills instructor at the Des Moines and West Des Moines unemployment offices for 15 years, I’ve never heard of the NAACP chapter doing anything for anybody in all my years there. OTOH, I coordinated numerous job fairs at Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium, resulting in thousands of hires, including many people of color.
Wait. This is the “Summer of Recovery” x 5, and the “economic genius” [sic] from kenya says we need to allow the mexicans in to fill jobs, so WHY does the NAACP need to hold a job fair?

most likely, these companies were contacted and informed that their workforce was not diverse enough. The NAACP kindly provided a job fair so that said employers would have the opportunity to bring their diversity up to par.

Yes, the lead LVER for the Des Moines district. And a DVOR at different times. One year I was a TVOR (Transitional Veterans Outreach Representative) for homeless veterans under Title IV-C.

I used to go to Denver for training a lot, but I can’t recall any names after all these years.
She was the attractive blonde instructor. I know how memories can fade though.
If you showed me a photo I’d probably remember, but names after almost 20 years? Nope. Although I remember some of my instructors from both of my AIT’s which were much further back. Weird.
