The price of a return ticket would be very small compared to that of a hotel room for weeks, months or years. You could apply for food stamps, free healthcare, shelter and who knows what else.

Long, long ago when I lived in a beach community near LA, undesirables were given bus tickets to other states. Guess the system got overwhelmed; they’d go broke trying to send them all back to Mexico now.
