In nearly 140 years of Colorado history, its never happened before. This year it is happening twice: Two legislators, both Democratic members of the Colorado State Senate, will face recall elections after the Democrat-controlled legislature, bullied by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Vice President Joe Biden, and supported by Governor John Im a Moderate Hickenlooper, passed heavy-handed and unpopular restrictions on gun rights in the Centennial State.
The senators in question are Angela Giron (Pueblo) and John Morse (CO Springs), the latter being the...
The Secretary of States office has issued a notice that they intend to abide by the regulatory deadline, meaning that no other candidate will be placed on the ballot unless a court order requires the state to use the constitutional deadline of not less than 15 days prior to the election a date that would be logistically difficult or impossible because this will be a mail-only election with ballots soon to be printed and mailed to voters.
Based on their interpretation, the Secretary of State has rejected a successor candidate petition format from a would-be Libertarian candidate in Morses district for which I am grateful given the impact of that partys presence in Senate District 11 in 2010. They have also rejected an initial request from a Democrat in Pueblo. It remains to be seen whether either of these, or someone else, will bring a constitutional challenge and, if it occurs after ballots are printed or mailed, whether a judge would offer any remedy.
In Colorado, even a write-in candidate must be approved in advance by the Secretary of States office. So as of this writing it appears possible, even probable, that the only candidate available to replace each Democratic senator, if he or she is recalled, would be a Republican...

Score TWO for liberty!
The ONLY reason Morse sits in that seat now (and gives the Dems the 1-seat majority to radicalize the state) is because stubborn Libertarians insist on running nuisance campaigns.
Thanks for the ping, beaversmom.
This is going to be a lot of fun to watch. Morse and Giron are going to slither away like the low down snakes they are. Bloomberg, et al are only going to make it easier to beat them.
What in the world have the Republican/Rinos brought into this world?
Stillborn crap-heads ...spineless weinies.
Next thing should be to recall Chickenroper.
Likewise the first two battles of the revolution were fought over gun confiscation.
Colorado is what happens when conservatives don’t PAY ATTENTION to commie pigs.
The whole state is in an uproar because commie pigs slithered in while conservatives grew fat, dumb and happy.
Hey, Colorado conservatives, NOW YOU KNOW, commie pigs NEVER SLEEP!
And when some TEA party guy or gal comes to you and says: “Hey, Yo, you gotta problem!” Listen to WHAT THEY SAY TO YOU, and don’t go tellin them to “Go Home and Put Your Tin Foil Hat On.”
Sheesh! Yes IT WAS A CONSPIRACY, YES THEY REALLY WERE OUT TO GET YOU!
Now I’m afraid Colorado has to be a write off.
The Demoncrats were very clever in taking advantage of the doper vote, most of whom are too stoned to get to the polls in a normal election, but given the motivation of legal pot they put down their bongs long enough to vote for legal dope and their natural patrons, the Party of Satan.
Is there any polling on this?
I know Colo has gone from solid red (2004 +5 Bush to solid blue (2012 +5 Baraq) in a very short time.
My idiot niece got priced out of NorCal and moved to Colo, apparently representative of many similar plus a swarm of illegals.
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
The Colorado Republican party was severely damaged by Governor Owens and Dick Whadams. They are still in disarray. The Dan Mays nomination caused a meltdown handing the Governorship to Hickenlooper.
It is hard to believe a sudden influx Californians made the difference. We were aware of the influx and gradual change.
A better explanation might be that the change has been gradual and that Dems only have a very slim margin right now. And they exploited that margin to pass gun control and other issues. Pretty much the story of the rest of the nation.
