LOS ANGELES – Three million Time Warner Cable customers in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas are losing the CBS channel, as the cable provider says it is dropping the network in a dispute over fees.

CBS will be back. It’s the annual “Let the viewers do our negotiating for us” season. TWC wanting its customers to negotiate a better contract for them. Don’t realize, I guess, that couldn’t care less if 98% of their channels left town.
At first glance I thought it said a dispute "over feces".
Which would be apt for CBS.
I believe it's actually the other way around. CBS is demanding TWC pay 600% more to carry it's programming. while I'm no fan of TWC or CBS I think it's kinda of a steep increase for programming that's available at no charge to over the airwaves viewers.
The "fees" are not being levied by TWC. It's CBS that wants a lot more money in the new contract, so CBS are the ones demanding a lot more "fees".
There’s no more ‘analog’ signal at all. That’s gone with the wind.
I don’t watch CBS.
Still, it irritates me that TWC isn’t providing 3 channels that are part of my package, but they’re charging me the same monthly fee.
The way I see it, you don’t deliver what you promised, you cut me a deal on the price. I don’t care WHY you didn’t deliver. That’s not my problem. I’m the customer. Not your negotiating partner.
Showtime is also a part of the deal as it’s owned by CBS parent companies. If you are viewing through TWC, you will get no Showtime until this is settled.
Getting more and more stations over the antenna anymore with the subchannels...for free.

It’s CBS who is withholding it’s programming in a dispute over much higher fees that CBS is demanding.
This headline is wrong - Time Warner doesn’t drop the channel, the channel drops Time Warner.
I guess these are the CBS owned stations rather than affiliates. That would make it difficult for Time Warner to do what is has done in the past - port in an affiliate from another market of the same network into the channel slot the station that pulled so customers barely known the difference and put the squeeze the local affiliate trying to get more money out of them...the only thing different is seeing commercials for businesses local to another market and the “local” news for another market.
TWC didn’t drop the channels - the channels dropped them.

There’s really no such thing as a “digital” antenna...just an antenna. The old rabbit ears or rooftop antenna are just as effective as any new “digital” antenna. Unfortunately digital signals are not as strong as the analog signals - either you have the channel, or not at all...on analog even if it is snowy or not entirely in focus, it is still quite watchable. No in between with digital...and the farther you are from the transmitter, the less change you have of getting the station...some now are forced to get cable or not have TV.
I still get CBS - wouldn’t mind my cable company dropping CBS News, though ...
All signal is analog. We just approximate digital over the air very well. /radio geek joke mode off

Why would any cable outfit pay to re-transmit a signal already available free over-the-air to people? Especially from a broadcaster that loses audience more and more each day?
CBS and its owner stations have no leverage against cable carriers...they should be working to make sure that the cable providers reach the folks that are on the fringes of over-the-air signals.
I think all the broadcast networks want paid
