23 Ways of Poking Fun at Libertarians
Townhall.com ^ | August 3, 2013 | Daniel J. Mitchell

The very first bit of anti-libertarian humor I ever posted was this clever video about the anarcho-capitalist paradise of Somalia.

I then shared two cartoons, one on libertarian ice fishing and the other showinglibertarian lifeguards.

That was followed by a very funny list of the 24 types of libertarians.

But I haven’t shared anything making fun of people like me since this “think I do” montage last year.

Thanks to Buzzfeed, however, we now have something new for our collection. They came up with “23 Libertarian Problems” and here are two of my favorites from the list.

Rand Paul will get a battering from many people not just Christie. Christie’s major donors are the neocons who abhor Paul’s neoisolationism much more than his libertarianism. They fear that hard pressed Americans are beginning to question expensive foreign entanglements that squander human and material treasure. Critical articles like this will appear to harass Paul constantly.

Apparently Rand Paul acolytes equate conservativism with libertinism. The two are not the same.

Watch and see who is laughing at who soon. The GOP has left an awful lot of people like myself in regards to defunding ObamaCare, investigating Benghazi, Illegal Immigration, etc.... We will see who laughs best when it counts

Rand Paul will get battered from all sides because the nut didn’t fall far from the tree.

“Apparently Rand Paul acolytes equate conservativism with libertinism. The two are not the same.”

Apparently some “conservatives” conflate “liberty” with “authoritarian big government”.

It’s a shame.

Libertarians want to return to roughly 1870 A.D. type laws, which is about as “conservative” as it gets.

Dopertarians seem unaware that abortion, adultery, and pretty much all of their sexual immorality was strictly regulated in 1870. History is not their forte.

I don’t think it’s a very good idea to make fun of people that are your only chance to build a winning coalition against the left.

Libertarians are the left.
Murder of the unborn is non negotiable.
Age of consent laws are non negotiable.
Illegality of prostitution is non negotiable.
Controlling our borders is non negotiable.

Libertarians are the left.

Back in my libertarian days the leftists I argued with hated my guts.

Your non-negotiables sound like extracts from sharia law

I consider Libertarians to BE the Left. I have no interest in a coalition with my enemies.

No, no you’ve got it all backwards. You see, back then those things were all approved. It was only later that the man quashed them.

I consider Libertarians to BE the Left.

Even if you mean big L libertarians there are too many glaring differences between them and the left for that to be a reasonable position.

Are you suggesting that because liberaltarians are not statists that this makes them not liberal?
