23 Ways of Poking Fun at Libertarians
Townhall.com ^ | August 3, 2013 | Daniel J. Mitchell

The very first bit of anti-libertarian humor I ever posted was this clever video about the anarcho-capitalist paradise of Somalia.

I then shared two cartoons, one on libertarian ice fishing and the other showinglibertarian lifeguards.

That was followed by a very funny list of the 24 types of libertarians.

But I haven’t shared anything making fun of people like me since this “think I do” montage last year.

Thanks to Buzzfeed, however, we now have something new for our collection. They came up with “23 Libertarian Problems” and here are two of my favorites from the list.

Oh. I see. So why then did he attack DOMA and constitutional protections for traditional marriage?

I support none of that, but let me ask you a question: Why do your ELECTED GOP officials support those issues, and why do you vote them into office?

“prevent them from ever working together.”

Horse****. Libertarians hate social conservatives more than they hate statism. We see it over and over again. They always side with the statists.

Yes, the left and libertarians agree on many things. But they also disagree on many things, and the biggest disagreement (size and power of government) will prevent them from ever working together.

Libertarians are the left who support conservative economics, so their role when they show up among conservatives, is to turn them into liberals, while keeping their economic conservatism.

The problem is that libertarianism breeds liberal voters, not conservative voters.

Let me ask you a question: Why do your ELECTED GOP officials support abortion, gay rights, illegal immigration, Obamacare, trillion dollar debt, an out of control IRS, and out of control NSA, etc, and why do you vote them into office?

Get back to me about how the one "Libertarian" in the Senate is destroying the country....

You already asked me a question.

“”So your belief is that libertarians should leave the Republican Party and The Tea Party because they are really nothing but liberal Democrats...?””

If you are against social conservatism, then get the heck away.

There’s a pretty easy way to differentiate between a liberal and a libertarian. Go through these issues with a person:

1) Gun control.
2) Eliminating the Departments of Education, Commerce, and Transportation, HUD, the NEA, and the EPA.
3) Flat tax.
4) Eliminating all affirmative action programs.
5) Eliminating the minimum wage.
6) Overturning Roe v. Wade.
7) Term limits.

Those topics should tell you pretty quickly whether or not you are dealing with a liberal. I don’t see how any libertarian or conservative could possible see things the same as a liberal on those points. Conservative vs. libertarian vs. Libertarian will take a few more questions.

Rinos are embracing libertarianism, the number one indicator of a coming rino, of a poser who will crumble, is if they are libertarian on social issues.

“I consider Libertarians to BE the Left.”

We think much the same of you. Have fun trying to win elections without us. Or better yet when we split the vote in 3 way contests.

Schmuck.

OK, if I'm against social conservatism I'll leave.

So why do your ELECTED GOP officials support illegal immigration, the homosexual agenda, abortion, Obamacare, illegal surveillance of citizens, an out of control IRS, and trillion dollar debts, and why do you vote them into office?

eh.

I’d take a reasonable libertarian over:

1 RINO
2 Zero, Hildabeast, Ragel, etc.

No contest. Though we disagree on some issues, there is more overlap than with RINOs who represent the Central Party.

Mine don’t! Tim Walberg is the only Republican I voted into office.

There’s a pretty easy way to differentiate between a conservative and a libertarian. Go through these issues with a person:

Libertarian Party Platform:

Throw open the borders completely; only a rare individual (terrorist, disease carrier etc.) can be kept from freedom of movement through “political boundaries”, eliminate the Border Patrol and INS.

Homosexuals; total freedom in the military, gay marriage, adoption, child custody and everything else.

Abortion; zero restrictions or impediments full 9 months.

Pornography; no restraint, no restrictions.

Drugs; Meth, Heroin, Crack, and anything new that science and marketers can come up with, zero restrictions.

Advertising those drugs, prostitution, and pornography; zero restrictions.

Military Strength; minimal capabilities.

Libertarians hate social conservatives more than they hate statism. We see it over and over again.

Has it ever occurred to you that the reason libertarians hate you more than they hate statism is because the way you treat them? Are you so sure it is because of policy disagreements, or is it because you are such an ass?

They always side with the statists.

I doubt that. As an example, I'll use the recent vote in the House to defund the NSA's indiscriminate data collection. It was authored by Justin Amash, considered one of the "libertarian Republicans" in the House. Do you think warrantless collection of vast amounts of data on people not suspected of any crime isn't "statist"?

In all fairness, the leadership of both parties, and Obama, came out against the bill, and in the end enough of the "establishment" politicians from both parties voted against it to kill it. So, it was really a "bipartisan" defeat.

I told you why in post 88.

Rinos are embracing libertarianism, the number one indicator of a coming rino, of a poser who will crumble, is if they are libertarian on social issues.

I’ve never been a republican, but I would sure never be so far left that I could be an anti-God, anti-America, libertarian.

Walberg is a good man. He’s completely ineffective as a House Republican, but he does vote his constituent’s wishes....

“The problem is that libertarianism breeds liberal voters, not conservative voters.”

Can you support that statement?

Also, there’s not really anything called “conservative economics”. Classical Liberalism, sure. Libertarian Economics, sure. Austrian or Chicago School Economics, sure. Your supposed hero was an admitted acolyte of “fusionism”, which relies on what he called “libertarianism”. “Conservative economics” is a misnomer.

Yes, very funny. Just like how funny those last few elections have been for you guys after you told us to get lost and then we had the temerity to not stick around on election day. Very, very funny! You know what’s going to be funnier...? Watching you guys keep talking trash to us for the next couple years and then seeing your reaction when hillary is in the white house. Oh, the funny writes itself!

Give a Liberaltarian a big sack of dope to smoke with his queer boyfriend and he would vote for Karl Marx.

So, given those issues, is Rand Paul a libertarian?
