MILWAUKEE If Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) is worried about his reelection odds, hes not showing it publicly.
It seemed like I really had an unfair advantage, Hickenlooper quipped after a Democratic Governors Association briefing here Friday afternoon. The approval ratings were so high it really didnt seem even fair. So, we made a few strategic decisions to try to move ourselves back into play, forcing us to be on our game, a little more focused. A June Quinnipiac University poll showed the first-term Democrat running neck and neck with Republican Tom Tancredo, a failed 2010 gubernatorial candidate and former congressman.
Hickenloopers decision to grant a temporary execution reprieve to a man convicted of killing four people appeared to hurt his once solid standing. A Republican poll conducted for Secretary of State Scott Gessler (R) also found Hickenlooper to be vulnerable. If I lose, I go back to 14 weeks of vacation. Im in a no-lose situation, right? Hickenlooper said.

What % did Tancredo get last time?
I’m not positive (I’ll look it up), but I know it was in the high 30’s. Dan Maes got 11% as the Republican candidate and then Hickenlooper got the rest.
Looked it up on Wiki:
51.01% for Hickenlooper (D)
36.43% for Tancredo (C)
11.13% for Maes (R)
So Tancredo got that amount—36%! He got in the race in August! So he was really having to scramble. He ran under a third party! I never vote for third party, but it was the right thing to do in this case. He ran reluctantly as a third party after McInnis and Maes wouldn’t drop out. Rightly or wrongly they were done for. They had no chance of winning against Hickenlooper. They didn’t care about any of that. It was all about ego instead of the good of Colorado. And now look what has been done to my state!
He was loudly accused of plagiarism - charges later quietly dismissed, after the election. He is a good man, would have been a great governor. I know his Mom. What they did to him was blatantly unfair.
Wow, watch out Hoopenlicker. Go Tancredo.
I am Praying that all 3 will get recalled.
May it be so.
I believe there was an added problem. With Maes refusing to withdraw, he had to get at least 10% of the vote or some such or Republicans could lose a place on the ballot in a future election. It was a real mess.
Tancredo would be a fantastic governor.
