Tea Party PACs Clean Rove’s Clock
Conservative HQ ^ | 8/2/13 | CHQ Staff

Posted on 08/03/2013 2:48:25 PM PDT by xzins

Earlier this year we brought CHQ readers news of establishment Republican election guru Karl Rove’s plan to take unto himself the decision about which candidates in Republican primaries were “electable” and which were not.

The enforcement mechanism Rove intended use in this effort was to be the millions of dollars in “Super PAC” money he was expected to raise from the multimillionaire donors who funded his outrageously expensive and largely unsuccessful efforts in the 2012 election cycle.

Except the millions of dollars Rove and company were expected to raise haven’t shown up yet.

What’s more, as Michael Patrick Leahy noted in an incisive article for Breitbart, the two major Tea Party oriented Super PACs – the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund super PAC and the TeaPartyExpress.org PAC raised more than Rove’s three PACs combined.

According to POLITICO, the three Super PACs affiliated with Rove, and his fellow establishment Republican power broker Ed Gillespie, including “American Crossroads, Crossroads GPS and the Conservative Victory Project jointly posted a $3.37 million fundraising haul ...in the first half of 2013.”

In contrast, Leahy reported, “the two leading Tea Party political action committees--the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund super PAC and the TeaPartyExpress.org PAC--took in more than $4.1 million combined during the same period. The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund raised $2 million and the TeaPartyExpress.org PAC raised $2.1 million. Both groups also had plenty of cash on hand as of June 30, 2013, the end of the reporting period. The Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund had over $600,000 in cash, and the TeaPartyExpress.org PAC had over $800,000 in cash.”

More importantly, while POLITICO reported that $1 million of the $3.3 million raised by Rove's groups came "from a single corporate donor," (Texan Harold Simmons' Contran Corporation) most of the donations to the Tea Party PACs came from unitemized donations of less than $200.

Indeed, Leahy noted that USA Today reports "more than $8 out of every $10 collected by the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund came in chunks of $200 or less, according to the group's first fundraising report with the Federal Election Commission."

Why is Rove apparently faltering, while the allegedly unsophisticated amateurs of the Tea Party building on their grassroots base to raise a national war chest?

It could be that Rove’s donors, even the big government corporate welfare lovers that fund so many of the establishment GOP campaigns, did the numbers and decided investing in Rove sponsored candidates and campaign advertising had a very, very poor return.

As First Lady of the conservative movement Phyllis Schlafly was quick to point out in announcing her opposition to Rove’s self-appointment to the role of arbiter of who wins and who loses in GOP primaries, “Of the 31 races in which Rove aired TV ads, Republicans won only 9, so his donors got little return on their investment… Rove’s Establishment losers included Rick Berg who lost in North Dakota and Denny Rehberg who lost in Montana, even while Romney was carrying both those states. Other Establishment losers were George Allen in Virginia, Tommy Thompson in Wisconsin, Connie Mack in Florida and Heather Wilson in New Mexico.”

Mrs. Schlafly also made the point that, “There are two reasons why Rove and his rich donors don’t like grass-roots Republicans and tea partiers. The Establishment can’t order them how to vote, and the Establishment wants candidates to talk only about economic issues, never about social, moral, or national-security issues.”

Let’s hope these results indicate Rove’s “Svengali-like power” over donors was broken by his catastrophic failures in 2012, and that donors are now demanding to know what the candidates stand for before they contribute.

Once Rove’s donors start doing that, they will quickly see that the limited government constitutional conservatives of the Tea Party stand for free markets and an end to the regulatory cronyism that is killing American business and jobs. When donors look at where to invest on that basis we are confident they will invest in principled conservatives like Sam Brownback, Mike Pence, Rand Paul, Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, rather than another round of content-free vessels into which Rove, Gillespie and company will pour more “me-too” establishment Republicanism.

What we should do is pick his biggest donor, and make a massive stink about him supporting a RINO, essentially a Democrat.

Make this guy sorry he ever heard of the name Rove.

That’ll send a message. Should have Rove checking his pockets for loose change for his next political season funding.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Rove is scared to death of the Tea Party. It will disconnect him from his constituency of fat cats.Obama is so afraid of the Tea Party that he sicked the IRS on them and abrogated the constitution to prevent Tea Party PACs
from gaining charitable staus under IRS laws and regulations.

The Tea Party is now coming. No one will stop them.

Rove has wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on failed candidates and has intentionally injured other, conservative candidates.

Not only is he incompetent, but he’s also treacherous.

The bottom line to all of this is that the Tea Party and conservatives have begun to systematically erode the power of the establishment (RINO or previously, Country Club) Republicans.

There really never were that many of them, and they held power because of their money, far in excess to the boots on the ground that supported their ideas. And their path to success, forcing “lesser of two evil” liberal Republican establishment candidates on the rank and file, is finally being seen for what it is.

Considerable credit needs to go to the Ron Paul supporters who took the fight to the state parties, which even though it didn’t work, illuminated “the enemy” in the leadership, making them future targets.

So in future elections, not only will the purge continue, but congressmen and senators will have to prove they are conservatives by their actions, not words, and if they lie to get elected, they will serve only one term.

Romney’s crusade to totally write the rules in favor of the GOP-Elite tells us all we need to know about Rove and his kind. They want to tell the rest of us who are candidates will be.

The entire DC elite structure is a would-be ruling regime bent on taking out individual freedom.

In a full blown revolution, people like Rove would be the first brought up on charges when the "ruling" regime goes down.

There is nothing worse than a so-called "friend" who is secretly in on the enemy's side.

Yes.....history tends to repeat itself!!!! During WWII, Winston Churchhill, after winning the Battle of Britain in the skies over England, with the RAF, etc., and surviving the dastardly bombing of London and other British cities by Hitler and his devastating Luftwaffe was being prodded to make nice with Htiler and his NAZI ilk. Churchill has three simple words for Herr Hitler.....”We Are Coming!!!”. With those three words, began the nightly bombing of Germany, etc. by British Bomber command, etc. followed by the daily bombing by the USAAF B-17 bombers. The rest is history!!!

Listening to Rove on a recent Hannity segment, he railed on about Pickett’s charge at Gettysburg and Grant’s victory at Jackson, MS. By the way, Pickett’s charge was darn near successful!!! One thing, folks....Rove knows nothing of either battle. Poor fellow is wallowing in failure as all RINOs are.

Rove, RINO”s, Obama, all Democrats, all Black Racists, all Obamabot Freeloaders, we, the American people are coming...by the millions to politically end your hate filled, anti-American political careers and restore our nation to freedom, liberty and opportunity for all Americans!!! Yes......history repeats itself.....King George was defeated, Hitler, was defeated, Japan was defeated and the present day, would be destroyers of these United States, will also be defeated and thrown into the political cesspool they vividly deserve to dwell in!!!

I had a call from the GOP today, the guy was telling me how we had to put a stop to 0bama’s liberal agenda, and he was about to play me a recording. I stopped his packaged spiel and told him I was through supporting the GOP and was sending my donations to a TEA party PAC or individuals challenging the GOPe and RINOs in congress. He ended the call after that. I should have just listened to the recording to see which RINO was begging for money.

Old racket. Rove represents the consultant gravy train. They try to use their connections in GOP to promote the candidate they have an arrangement with. They try to convince the guy they back the consultants are the ones who can create victory thru PR. Deal is if the candidate wins, Rove consultant firm will get the job to help him win the election. Since we spend close to a billion dollar to run for POTUS, consultants stand to make exorbitant amount of money in fees. It is a money machine worth fighting for, that is why establishment consultants are trying to convince the party regulars they are the kingmakers and their choice is important. Problem for consultants is the Main Street citizen armed with the power of the internet is breaking away from the monopoly of power/information. The key to GOP is mastering the twitter/facebook network to convey ideas, rebuttals and get out the vote effort. This is where Obama is ahead in terms of campaign technology. Problem is many of these high tech firms are infiltrated with pro Dem workers who will not be professional about their duties. GOP needs to be very sharp when hiring them.

Once Rove’s donors start doing that, they will quickly see that the limited government constitutional conservatives of the Tea Party stand for free markets and an end to the regulatory cronyism that is killing American business and jobs.

Which means they'll give money to Democrats, because they stay bought. This means war. Best we realize that it's worth our money to get the best politicians money can buy.
