Multiple highway patrol officers in Texas have been captured by dash cams doing 'unconstitutional' cavity searches on women's genitals during traffic stops. Lawyers and civil rights advocates say the 'mind-boggling' searches are all too common.

Common Ladies. Get with the program

A finger in the vagina/butt from a friendly trooper is a small price to pay for keeping America safe from evil dopers connected cartel profits sky high and law enforcement in business.

Now bend over and take it for your own good, Citizen! You got nothing to hide down there, right?

Maybe some “turnaround assaults” are needed here? This is one of the most outrageous actions I’ve ever heard of! If I were any of the “officers” involved, I’d be busy moving and changing my identity. WTF is wrong with these people?

“Now bend over and take it for your own good, Citizen!”

This is a very cynical, selfish take on the American police state. The correct instruction is, “Now bend over and take it for the good of the community, Citizen!”

With this sort of police action on the highways, combined with NSA panopticon surveillance, TSA procedures in airports, the world’s largest prison population, indefinite detentions without trial, the proliferation of armed branches in every civil bureaucracy, the militarization of police forces, etc., etc., how can there be any doubt that the United States is a police state?

I have lived many years in countries that most people in the US consider police states and in countries under martial law. I can no longer tell the difference any more between those and the US. (In fairness, though, I ought to add that most police states have more polite and civilized airport security staff than the US TSA.)

The emergency measures adopted in response to 9/11 are now accepted as normal. Combined with the diminution of liberty that has accompanied the war on drugs, the US has become a police state.

The Nazi wing of Free Republic will soon be on the scene defending this behavior in the name of “law and order”. As the article points out, this is illegal in the State of Texas, but illegal acts by law enforcement seem to be quite the fashion these days. Good thing these ladies didn’t have a dog.

Dead wrong.

Millions of tax dollars paid out because the electorate in Texas hasn’t been willing to elect people running on a platform which includes cleaning this up.

I am in Grayson coujty. I look hard for judicial candidates and candidates for DA who will hammer these corrupt LEOs and their supervisors when this crap crops up. If it costs us more I will have bettter luck getting people to join me.

Dallas59, you are upset because you are getting a consequence we thoroughly deserve here. Too damned bad. How about bring this factor up when you discuss politics with people in your municipality instead of continuing to pretend that you are not all part of the problem through your negligence.

The word “citizen” is offensive. You should say “resident”.

... lawyers and civil rights advocates tell the Daily News these cavity searches are really standard policy among the Texas Department of Public Safety’s state troopers, despite their illegality — not to mention that they were conducted on the side of the road in full view of passing motorists.

Maybe their defense could be that they are amateur gynecologists just practicing.Or they were looking for concealed weapons.

Or .... I couldn't think of any more. Maybe throw yourself on the mercy of the courts.
