Yes, Gay is a Choice. Get Over It.
American Thinker ^ | Aug 3, 2013 | Robert Oscar Lopez

Posted on 08/04/2013 9:16:00 AM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

Crystal Dixon of the University of Toledo was fired for writing an editorial in a local newspaper. She referred to Exodus and mentioned people who chose to leave the gay lifestyle.

The case against Dixon is based purely on wild assumption that gay men cannot stop themselves from having anal sex or engaging in fellatio.

These assumptions bestialize and infantilize gay men.

Dixon said that gays had the choice to leave the lifestyle (in other words, stop engaging in anal sex and fellatio). According to her detractors, such was tantamount to being anti-gay. Her detractors are following the lead of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which lists "conversion therapy" as a hate crime.

[snip] I went from being in the gay lifestyle to marrying a woman, having a daughter, and living a happy heterosexual life.

Consider the difference that twenty years make. Twenty years ago, I had never been with a woman, but I had had relations with quite a few men. Virtually all of my friends were gays, lesbians, or women who enjoyed gay company. I found girls pretty, but I was scared of them.

Now I am twelve years into a happy and faithful marriage to a woman. You couldn't pay me to have sex with a man at this point in my life.

Gay is not the new black. "Gay" is about sex and genitalia. People we call "gay" make choices about what they do with their genitals; blacks do not make choices about the color of their skin. Period. If one is going to fire Crystal Dixon for harming gay men by reminding all of us that no penis is beyond the executive decisions of its owner, then one might as well fire all the humanities professors in the United States --- starting with me.

Leftists like to equivocate about whether terms relate to unchangeable aspects of human nature (such as skin color) or changeable aspects (such as culture). They argue that it's not right to discriminate the former, and thus not right to discriminate against the latter.

The leftists linguistic behavior goes even further with gay issues, however: they don't demand the right to engage in the same behaviors as straight people, because they would not find satisfaction in them; they don't even limit themselves to demanding the private right to engage in behaviors which they would find satisfying. They demand that other people regard those behaviors which gays find satisfying to be fully equivalent to the behaviors in which more typical people behave.

Rather than argue about the extent to which same-sex sexual attraction is or is not genetic, conservatives need to recognize that nobody--gay or straight--has any inherent right to act upon every feeling of sexual attraction they get. Additionally, the fact that many people recognize and attach significance to certain kinds of heterosexual relationships does not imply that anyone--gay or straight--has any right to compel others to recognize other kinds of relationships. The fact that none of the people a gay man might want as a partner meet the societal requirements for a "wife" does not give the man the right to demand society adopt its requirements to his liking.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which lists "conversion therapy" as a hate crime.

Why isn't the Southern Poverty Law Center itself listed as a "HATE GROUP"??

If Satan established a "law center" here in America, it'd be THIS subversive cabal of demonic lawyers.

God can't hit it with a large enough meteor.

We live in such a warped world. People now think that they’re controlled by their penis, and if you ever question this, they sneer and say “you obviously don’t have sex enough, otherwise you’d know.”

If gay is a choice then all the civil rights crap protecting it is just that: CRAP.

Good suggestion; what subject is less useful in the job market than the leftist drivel called humanities?

I believe the lifestyle is a choice.

The orientation, for many, probably is not.

The more shrill and hysterical their response, the surer you can be that you're hitting the nail on the head. As Abe Lincoln famously said, "Throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one yelps the loudest is usually the one you hit."

Ole Abe had it goin' awn, yo.

Great point. I’m a hardcore conservative and “I was born that way”. I came from two great conservative, America-loving parents. The maggots who attack me and those like me day in and day out in their “media” are violating my civil rights. I’m a conservative through no fault of my own. I was just born that way.

These assumptions bestialize and infantilize gay men.

Their behaviors do that, assumptions aside. And stop using the left's verbage that tends to legitimize those behaviors.

HOMOSEXUAL, because there's nothing GAY about it.

Exactly. An ALL KNOWING GOD vs. a thinking man.

It is a CHOICE to believe GOD or 'man'. They are believing in the themselves and for themselves.

"I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore CHOOSE life, that both you and your descendants may live;" Deut 30:19

GOD has given us a CHOICE and since He wants that none shall perish, He tells us the answer which one to choose for OUR BENEFIT. Believing/choosing Jesus is the answer to LIFE - for everything good and blessings, believing/choosing man is the answer to death and curses.

One way or another, sexual degeneracy is not the product of nature, it is the product of nurture (even the absence of nurture is nurture, negative nurture). If sexual degeneracy were natural God would not have stated clearly that it is an abomination before Him.

You are correct. But everyone has the choice of how to ACT. I like to make the analogy that some people are aroused by pyromania. Should they have special rights as well? It’s an action chosen, just like having abberant sex.

But “orientation” is with all of us constantly.

Most men are “oriented” to young women with large breasts, beautiful faces, and few clothes. Most women are “oriented” to tall, athletic, good-looking men with money or great jobs.

We may be inclined that way but most of us become wise enough to realize that inclinations shouldn’t drive behavior.

We all come into the world equipped and inclined to lie, deceive, hurt others, or to dislike hard work. We don’t give a pass to people who persist in that all their lives.

NO, the question of whether to "be" gay, including all its effeminate affectations, behavioral trappings and flaming exhibitionisms, are all decisions made at the conscious level, often times for the most effed-up reasons imaginable. I know, because I'm one who chose to be straight despite myriad and almost undeniable encouragement to choose the other.

The point came where I had to make a choice, and despite a strong wish to shame my abusive father, I chose to make a decision for me, instead of making one for him. I realized that, by choosing otherwise, I would appear to be opposing him, but in truth, he would remain in control of my life forever.

Becoming homosexual has very little to do with sex, and everything to do with how we choose to "act out" in defiance of things we perceive as being "shoved upon us." The faggotry is just an unfortunate result of this choice, which is why so many fags commit suicide.

It's not because they feel ostracized by society; it's because they realize that they've made a choice against themselves, against who they truly are at their core.

You just cannot win an internal struggle when your entrenched position's justification is built upon a monstrous lie you told yourself back when you were young and stupid enough to believe it.

Far too often, the only way out is to end the life you chose to waste on a self-desrtuctive lie.

Look at the thousands more who left faggotry behind by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. There can be no more conclusive, inarguable proof against the lie that gays are "born" and not "made."

Last, don't bother trying to argue this unassailable truth; I speak from what I know to be true, not from that about which I at times find it interesting to hypothesize because,"I read an article somewhere..."

;-\
