Carney said the threat was “emanating from and maybe directed towards the Arabian Peninsula.” “The extension of those closures does not reflect a new stream of threat information but is more a reflection of taking necessary precautions,” he said.

Someone should ask him this question: "So, Mr. Carney, are you saying that the State Department is being much more proactive in protecting our embassies than it was when Hillary Clinton was running the depatment?"

obama:

What are we going to do about these scandals and Americans turning against me over this nsa garbage?

jarrett:

Not to worry... we have dealt with it. We just issued an alert on some stale intel and we are closing 27 embassies... early reports are that the sheep are buying it”

Yes, but they needed the distraction now, not months ago. All the crap His Arrogance and his RICO administration has been up to requires the distraction now. MSM pimps and prostitutes are to pick up their scripts by Monday afternoon.

It’s Love Your NSA Week.

Easier to do when the media shouts “terrorist threat” 24/7.

“It could be a series of combined attacks,” King said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Or it could be that Peter King is covering for The Obama similar to the way he covered for Bill Clinton back in the day.

If these reporters had any backbone and honor at all, they'd do it (hammer on Benghazi), then if the WH blacklists them, scream it (and the "reason") to the heavens every day.

For the Obama administration, the type of politicization of intelligence that has taken place under the president has created a situation where the average person has little confidence in claims that terrorists are planning major attacks.

Barry closed the embassies because he didn't want his birthday golf outing interrupted. When bin Laden was offed, they called Barry in from the golf course.

“So, is al Qaeda still defeated?”
By BILL ROGGIO

August 5, 2013 12:55 AM

SNIPPET: “Thomas was quoted extensively at The Jerusalem Post on this very issue over the weekend.

Here is an excerpt from the report:

Joscelyn, a terrorism analyst specializing in al-Qaida and a senior editor of The Long War Journal as well as a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies told The Jerusalem Post in an interview on Sunday said that many people in the US have been trying to argue that al-Qaida is dead, but this news demonstrates that this was not a correct assessment.

Recent reports indicate that the intelligence that led to the warning was above the level of general chatter and that it coincides with the naming of a new al-Qaida general manager.

Al Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri, according to a report by CNN on Saturday, appointed Nasir al Wuhayshi, the Yemeni leader of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), for the role. Consequently, Wuhayshi rose to number two in the terrorist organization, a position held by Libyan Abu Yahya al Libi before his death in a drone strike in Pakistan in June 2012.

The report states that the move could be meant to help the organization remain focused in the Arab world and raise funds from Gulf States. Wuhayshi previously was Bin Laden’s private secretary during the latter’s time in Afghanistan, fleeing to Iran, where he was arrested and sent to Yemen in 2003.

Joscelyn says that this position is incredibly important because it “manages infrastructure and affiliates.” It could be that “this plot is tied to his appointment as a big coming out party,” he said.”

“Al Qaeda intercept is just one piece of threat intelligence: U.S. sources”

By Tabassum Zakaria and Susan Cornwell
WASHINGTON | Mon Aug 5, 2013 7:42pm EDT

SNIPPET: “(Reuters) - Intercepted communication between al Qaeda leaders was one component of a broader pool of intelligence that prompted a threat alert closing numerous U.S. embassies in the Middle East and Africa, U.S. sources said on Monday.

The New York Times reported that the closure of the embassies was the result of intercepted electronic communications between Ayman al-Zawahri, who replaced Osama bin Laden as head of al Qaeda, and Nasser al-Wuhayshi, the head of Yemen-based affiliate al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP).”

“State Department: Ansar al Sharia an alias for AQAP”
By THOMAS JOSCELYN
October 4, 2012

SNIPPET: “The US State Department announced today that it has amended its terrorist designations of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) “to include the new alias, Ansar al Sharia (AAS).”

AAS “was established to attract potential followers to sharia rule in areas under the control of AQAP,” according to the State Department. “However, AAS is simply AQAP’s effort to rebrand itself, with the aim of manipulating people to join AQAP’s terrorist cause.”

AAS “has publicly stated that the particular brand of sharia they hope to implement is the same as that espoused by the Afghan Taliban and the Islamic State of Iraq, a militant umbrella group...that includes” al Qaeda in Iraq.

AAS has “has taken responsibility for multiple attacks against Yemeni forces.” In March 2012, AAS executed a “series of attacks and armed assaults” in southern Yemen that “killed 100 people, many of whom were Yemeni soldiers.” An AAS suicide bombing in May 2012 “killed more than 100 Yemeni soldiers” during a parade.

The United Nations has also added AAS to its list of designated terrorist organizations.

The emir of AAS is Nasir al Wuhayshi, Osama bin Laden’s longtime aide-de-camp in Afghanistan. Wuhayshi is also the emir of AQAP.”

“19 US posts to remain closed this week, as lawmakers say terror threat ‘specific’ and ‘serious’”

Published August 05, 2013
FoxNews.com

SNIPPET: “Florida Republican Rep. Tom Rooney, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, told Fox News that U.S. intelligence agents detected a “very specific” threat and suggested they have known about it for at least several weeks.

He was among several congressional lawmakers Sunday who said the threat was gleaned from so-called “chatter” from phone lines, computer outlets, websites and other communication outlets.

Rooney also said the information is not what intelligence committee members “see on our regular briefings.””

SNIPPET: “Rooney’s comments followed Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, telling NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the threats are “very reminiscent of what we saw pre-9/11.”

SNIPPET: “The sources said the chatter included Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri demanding that key leaders of the terror network in the Arabian Peninsula step up their activities in the wake of recent killings of top terrorists.

A Mideast diplomat said al-Zawahiri’s “pressuring” of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula to launch new terrorist attacks on American and other Western targets is “unprecedented.””

Bears repeating...

For the Obama administration, the type of politicization of intelligence that has taken place under the president has created a situation where the average person has little confidence in claims that terrorists are planning major attacks.

“They have debased the coinage of the realm: trust,” the former official said.

-There’s a pattern of deceit in this administration.
