The office of George W. Bush revealed the former president had heart surgery Tuesday morning.
According to a press release, doctors discovered a blockage in an artery in Bush's heart during the former president's annual physical examination at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas.
Bush agreed to have a stent placed to open the blockage and successfully completed the surgery Tuesday morning without complication at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

...that’s actually quite rare, and even if the decision is through the wrist, the groin area is prepared as well, as the passage to the heart is more direct...
...my stent was deployed six years ago, to open the posterolateral artery which had completely blocked...needlessly I thought, I had to spend a night in the cardiac unit, where they come in every hour on the hour to draw blood, and then say in the morning, ‘Did you get any sleep?’...heh, hospital humor...

Angioplasty.....through a vein in the groin area. I had it done about 15 years ago.

I was wide awake for the three stents that they inserted into my heart. I watched the procedure on the large-screen, real-time x-ray.

Do a Google search for “Doctor James Fixx”. Genes are involved, not just health regimen. Someone in his family, even from generations ago, had heart problems.
I consider getting a haircut a ‘surgery’. But that’s just me!

My grandfather had a stent placed in an artery at age 90. A week later he was back to his old ball-busting self, albeit quite a bit ornery because he didn’t like being in the hospital.
Through a catheter? Hell, might as well be considered torture.
