US Strikes al Qaeda In Yemen

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — A suspected U.S. drone killed four alleged al-Qaida members in Yemen on Tuesday, as the U.S. and British embassies evacuated staff amid reports of a threatened attack by al-Qaida that has triggered temporary shutdowns of 19 American diplomatic posts across the Muslim world.

Yemeni officials have suggested al-Qaida threats to multiple potential targets in the Arabian Peninsula country in recent days, including foreign installations and government offices in the capital Sanaa as well as to the strategic Bab al-Mandeb straits at the entrance to the Red Sea to the south.

It is not clear if these reports are the same as the intelligence that led to the embassy shutdowns, reportedly instigated by an intercepted message between al-Qaida chief Ayman al-Zawahri and his deputy in Yemen about plans for a major terror attack.

The State Department on Tuesday ordered non-essential personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Yemen to leave the country. The department said in a travel warning that it had ordered the departure of non-emergency U.S. government personnel from Yemen "due to the continued potential for terrorist attacks" and said U.S. citizens in Yemen should leave immediately because of an "extremely high" security threat level.

Britain's Foreign Office also said it has evacuated all staff from its embassy in Yemen due to increased security concerns. The Foreign Office said the British Embassy staff were "temporarily withdrawn to the U.K." on Tuesday. It declined to comment further.

Meanwhile, there has been a spike in apparent U.S. drone strikes against al-Qaida leaders. The attack Tuesday was the fourth in two weeks.

Yemen officials say the drone fired a missile at a car carrying four men in the al-Arqeen district of Marib province, setting it on fire and killing all of them.

I don’t get it. How can the US just pick a sovereign nation and bomb it?

4 down, About 2 million to go (Assuming 2B Muslims worldwide, and that only 0.1% of them are terrorists)

Even if they kill five or ten of them, twenty will take their place. There comes a time when our very presence in these backward Muslim countries needs to be questioned. The reality is that the oil exporters either sell their oil to anyone with hard currency or they will wither and die. Time to acknowledge the hard truth that Western culture is incompatible with Islam. There are simply not enough rational secularists in these countries to make interactions worthwhile.

Is Yemen just letting us go into their airspace?
A couple of drones over benghazi might have helped, huh?

This SISSY, LIMP-WRISTED HIT — RUN, HIDE, AND WHINE kind of warfare favored by POTUS must have something to do with that cross-dressing male nanny in Indonesia.

It sure isn't the way little American boys fight. I taught my sons that when they had to fight, to fight until they won or somebody pulled them off.

Surely you’re not suggesting putting troops in Yemen ...

Bombing other countries to end terror, spread democracy or end torture at the hands of a dictator = BAD

Bombing other countries to prop-up Obama’s poll numbers = GOOD

Translation: Yeah, it was stupid, but us media needed to divert your attention while Zippy golfs and Fast n Furious and Benghazi boil up.

I would say the opposite, if we cannot fight to win at all costs, then we leave and take everything we brought with us.

There seems to be a lot of non-essential personnel under government employment.

Yemen is closer to Mecca than is Ryadh.

What I said is that if you HAVE TO FIGHT, fight to win. If CONGRESS should decide we HAVE to fight Yemen, then blow the place off the map.

No more slap/whine/giggle. This kind of crap is going to get us into some serious, long term trouble. We better be sure we have no reasonable alternative but to fight, and then do whatever we need to prevail with a decisive VICTORY.

Yemen is glad to have our help.

Al Queda "fighters" flooded into Yemen about 5 years ago and have been attacking the government ever since. Yemen also acts as a marshalling yard, if you will, for Al Queda forces and supplies headed for Africa, north, central and south.

Drop in the bucket just to make headlines that we’re doing something. More likely target practice for when hussein turns them on US citizens.

If trouble is coming from Yemen, I hold Yemen responsible. Clean it up or get cleaned up. That’s the price of being an independent nation. Maybe Yemenis just don’t want to be bothered with cleaning up their country. That’s up to them, but if we are CERTAIN that our attackers are based in their nation and if CONGRESS votes to fight, it’s showtime. Time to quit covering for countries who shelter evil and beg for aid.

A drone strike on the Kabbalah rock, blasting it to fine dust, would be a good start.

The Muzzloids would go into saturation, but the warning would be that Kabbalah would be ground zero for something much bigger if they even tried to retaliate.

“Even if they kill five or ten of them, twenty will take their place.”

Tell that to our heroes in the Pacific [WWII] when kamakazis kept coming. Now those were top notch fanatics.

As for Islam, tell it to Constantinople when an entire Islamo-wacko army got itself killed trying to attack them. It took several more centuries, and the outstanding leadership of the Ottomans, to finish a long-weakened city.

“There comes a time when our very presence in these backward Muslim countries needs to be questioned.”

That’s a point. We need more spec-ops, more spies, and fewer gum-flappers out there. But we are talking about Obama. He could care less about conservative opinions.

“There are simply not enough rational secularists in these countries to make interactions worthwhile.”

We certainly shouldn’t be propping up the Muslim Brotherhood. Well, guess it’s time to build a mosque near Ground Zero. See you later.
