Vanity: WHY ARE EMBASSIES CLOSED? FOR DECLARATIONS OF WAR, USUALLY!
a little bird | 8/6/2013 | RaceBannon

Posted on 08/06/2013 10:06:12 AM PDT by RaceBannon

I have to ask, think this through, what has been the reason for a series of embassies to ever close in our past history?

Are we so scared of a group that was once defeated that we cower in fear like this? Or does Obama have other plans?

Embassies, closed, this many, at the same time...only in time of war, folks, only in time of war

Obama has other plans with the ultimate goal of weakening our military.

No no - Obama has already told us that the war on terror is basically over.

Nothing to see here.

It’s not because of that. You’re thinking about during normal times with a normal President. This guy is an amateur. They’re scared shitless and I predict NOTHING happens.

I don’t think war, but I do think AQ has a significant WMD.

With all the upheaval in Syria etc. and AQ basically running the show there...AQ has crested the ‘super power’ hill with the acquisition of some sort of WMD.

Race, I hate to say it, but I think this is the reason. The man has made it abundantly clear for the last six years that he thinks we can have peace by refusing to fight. Since our enemies don't think like that, his only choice is to cower in fear.

What should we expect from a clique that allowed an American Ambassador and his entourage to be undefended and murdered and then lied to try to cover up that terrorists did it? The terrorists know exactly what they are dealing with. It's we Americans who are too stupid to figure it out.

I’d love to get the ISRAELI take on these closings.

being that they are our long term friends and in the middle of all this geographically.

I smell something that “aint” roses!

I am thinking that in THIS case, the administration will not/cannot make a decision to defend them.

It is all part of a predetermined and systematic ‘stand-down’ prior to the reduced global role “O” wants for the US in the future. Handing-off US foreign policy and autonomy to the UN would require this.

At the same time I guess, “O” wants the continued influence, power and respect that goes with a committed and strong US... go figure.

Everything about this administration is wholly incongruous with wanting and assuring a strong, free and influential US.

For which he will be glad to take full credit.

Imagine for a moment, the police have credible evidence that a bank was to be robbed. Would they close all the banks or stake them out and capture the bad guys?

What action did the Ob-amateur take?

When I was in the Portugal embassy in 2002, it was protected by only 2 marines.
I suspect the problem is universal.

Nobody points out that closing an embassy out of fear is a tremendous slap in the face of the host country. You are telling the world this country cannot protect my embassy. We are telling the world we have no confidence in the host country.

The embassies and consulates are closed to the public. They are still functioning and they are staffed by our personnel. This has happened many times before, but usually on a case by case basis in a particular country. Tempest in a tea pot.

No, it’s totally embarrassing. The once great United States cowers in fear before a bunch of third world thugs with computers and look what they have caused. Dozens of US embassies around the world closed indefinitely on the postings and rants of a handful of religious zealots. And they haven’t fired a single shot..................

The Marine Security Guard does not protect the Embassy. The host government is primarily responsible for defending the embassy against domestic, external attacks. The Marines are responsible for interior defense and the protection of classified material.

The smallest MSG contingent is six personnel. Some diplomatic missions do not have marines.

I spent 28 years as a Foreign Service Officer with over 20 years spent abroad. I supervised the RSOs and the MSG detachment.

The Marines at the front desk who buzzed you in beyond the hardline have 8 hour watches. We have local hire guards at the perimeter as well as host country provided protection, depending on the mission. Again, the Marines are not there to protect against an external attack. We depend on the host government to protect us. If they can't, we shouldn't be there. This was the cardinal mistake made in Benghazi. We should not have been there because the host government was unable to come to our aid.

. This guy is an amateur.

One thing Obama is not is that he is not an amateur. Could an amateur have taken the greatest nation in the world down to a quivering mass of jelly financially, politically and socially in just 4 years? Hell no! He is a master and is surrounded by masters at what he wants to do. He broadcast it for the world to see and hear. "In a few days we are going to begin to fundamentally change America".

Nobody gave much thought to Hitler either until one day they woke up and found strings of boxcars waiting for them and Brown Shirted thugs armed to the teeth ready to help them board. History...History...History!!!

Do not underestimate ones enemy.

In Teheran in 1979, the “students” took over our embassy for the first time.. Two of my leaders came out in Jan 79. They looked around, weighed the pros and cons, and after the students were in our SCIF, they decided to pull us outin Feb 79. At that time, I was stationed in Rome, and we handled the evac of our dependents that transited there and at Naples. Some of the MSG from Rome were sent to Teheran to bolster the MSG Det in Tehran. In March of 1979, the situation had settled down and the embassy was a bare-bones operation, until they came back to stay in Nov 79. There are some missions where there is a reasonable expectation of rescue should the balloon go up. Teheran was not one of them. Most officers volunteer to go to some of them knowing that they can’t count on the cavalry showing up.if you can’t handle that possibility, then perhaps they should consider another line of work. My last post was Havana was considered a hardship post but we did have a reasonable expectation of the cavalry coming over the ridge.

Bag “O” Wipes is most definitely an amateurish clown. this blowhard's talent is to bluster, intimidate, whine, and occasionally cry. He is nothing but a case of being in the right place at the right time. Too bad for us!!
The U.S. has been on the road to ruin for some time and for many reasons. The only thing that will stop the decline is an about face turnaround. An AMERICAN SPRING.....with millions of CITIZENS( not consumers ) demanding an end to Washington's influence over our lives. Until the Citizen's of this once great nation share a vision of what we as a nation are to become we are doomed to the failings of a failed pathetic asswipe that occupies the White House and breathes our air.

Look at the closings with the understanding that the kenyan is a mohammedan and probably sunni. His sympathies are with the Moslem Brotherhood and the USA is the major target of hatred for the Moslem Brotherhood.

They are closed to the PUBLIC. Almost all of them will be open in a week. Some already have opened this Monday. I think we are being manipulated. Is it a coincidence that this is happening while Congress is debating limiting NSA and its collection activities? This chatter is supposed to be so "precise" that we must close over 20 diplomatic missions as well as heighten alerts in places like San Francisco.

If the enemy knows we are listening maybe they are playing games with us.
