The White House announced that President Barack Obama will award the Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award, to 16 recipients including television star and businesswoman Oprah Winfrey, legendary Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee and former President Bill Clinton.

“The Presidential Medal of Freedom goes to men and women who have dedicated their own lives to enriching ours,” Mr. Obama said in a statement released by the White House. “This year’s honorees have been blessed with extraordinary talent, but what sets them apart is their gift for sharing that talent with the world.”

Mr. Obama will award the medals later this year. In total, 16 people will receive the award, the White House said.

Selfengrandizing despicable bottom feeders. Bengahzi babe receives an award after she allowed 4 Americans to be murdered. Oprah gets it because she's up zero's a##, she's a woman and she's black and Bradley is a life long liar for hire with zero. Anyone surprised? Zero got the nobel prize for doing absolutely nothing

I may have to reconsider ... does she “wear it on her sleeve” or is it an aspect of her private life that became public and she doesn’t make that her primary identity?

Didn't 0bama give Susan Rice a medal at the White House prior to Hillary's Benghazi hearing? A stunt designed to reassure Rice the promotion he promised her in exchange for her lying about Benghazi would still be made? That his bribery was as good as gold as promised?

YES. Susan Rice Honored With ‘Great American’ Award Night Before Benghazi Hearing

I guess being a LIAR is being a 'Great American'.

Maybe it's time for FR to start having its own "Person of the Year" award, and also FReeper medals of freedom.

Great ideas!

The left has taken over everything. They will never recognize conservatives, ever.

There should be some kind of recognition, awards from our side.

I guess one of the ways to achieve this award is to seduce an intern into having fellatio with you in the oval office. What a special country we have become and what a special President we have to realize this is what constitutes a major national contribution.

I am probably going to get flamed for this, but Oprah has made outstanding contributions to this country. She has started several businesses, made lots of money and created thousands of good jobs for people. This IS what makes the country great. Her liberal views, not so much - but as with anything else in our (formerly) free land, if you can sell it, you can get rich.

“Maybe it’s time for FR to start having it’s own “Person of the Year” award, and also, FReeper medals of Freedom..”

Sorry, my FRiend, but I disagree. Judging from prior favorite FReeper threads, it’s more about favoritism and popularity (or?) than substance ... not unlike these progressive bogus ‘awards’.

Barf? You mean the poem selection? I thought it quite appropriate.

Skimming through the list of all recipients I noticed how Republicans didn’t award on a strictly partisan basis. Democrats? It’s about their agenda and heroism for their causes.
