Off point. Why do you preach to the choir?

Insulting people is not a good way to encourage them to your way of thinking. Please don’t bend a thread to your evangelism, or at least come up with passages which fit the discussion. Many people here are able to do this. Maybe they have better knowledge of the source.

I have been posting Our Daily Bread in this canteen since it started, and it is posted every single day. If this is the first time you have seen ut then you must be blind. It just so happen people read and really appreciate that I post Our Daily Bread every day. If you don’t, I suggest you don’t read it. It’s that easy.

The Canteen thread is posted for our troops and veterans and their families wherever they serve.

The Daily Bread posting EACH day is an important part of what we try to provide some of them.

If it so bothers you, please just skip over it. It is important to many.

Contained But Not Extinguished

August 16, 2013

In June 2012, the Waldo Canyon fire destroyed 346 homes in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and burned more than 18,000 acres of mountain forest. The fire was declared 100-percent contained when perimeter lines had been built around the entire area of the blaze. It had been confined to a defined area until it could be fully extinguished. A fire information official warned residents that they might continue to see smoke in the burn area because even though the fire was fully contained it “is not controlled and it is not out.”

When our world is rocked by tragic events and evil acts, we long for the day when evil will finally be destroyed and God will bring history to a close and fully establish His kingdom. Until that time, however, the Lord gives us His grace to live purposeful lives of faith as we await His coming. In Hebrews 10, we are urged to draw near to God with sincere hearts (v.22); hold fast to the hope we profess (v.23); spur each other on to love and good works (v.24); and continue meeting together for encouragement “and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (v.25).

Until the time God extinguishes the fires of evil forever, He gives us His grace and strength to endure the trials of life as we look forward to His return.

Dear Lord, thank You for the grace You give us to live
each day for Your glory. We look forward to the day
when You return, all evil will be extinguished, and
we will live with You in perfect harmony forever.
Jesus is coming—perhaps today!

Read: Hebrews 10:19-39

For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. —Hebrews 10:37

He’s not bending a thread to his evangelism, he’s articulating thoughts and recounting passages that are of great significance and meaning to those of us who frequent this thread.

You arrive on this thread almost a week after the fact, you do not frequent this thread, nor have you contributed to it in the past calendar year. Those of us who habituate this tread are quite happy with The Mayor’s daily contribution. It recalls, for those of us who have served in combat, for those of us on active duty, and for those of us whose loved ones stand in Harm's Way, the presence of Our Lord during the period of our peril. It articulates, ratifies and reinforces the values and beliefs that formed this great Nation and that underlie our precious Freedoms.

For you to jump into this thread and gratuitously attack a five-day old post as being “off point” is unwarranted, inappropriate and presumptuous. The Daily Bread is an integral part of the FR Canteen. It has been here from the inception of the Canteen; it is here today; it will be here until the Last Trumpet.

Re: The Daily Bread

The Daily Bread was also posted on the Freeper Foxhole back when it was running, lo these may years ago.

To the best of my recollection no one minded then. And If I may say so it was liked by the majority of the Foxholers.

As someone else said, dont’t like it, don’t read it

Thank You, Mr. Mayor, for Your Daily postings of Our Daily Bread. I appreciate them so much, even when I don’t post a reply.

I also appreciate it when you post Our Daily Bread on the “Pray For Our American Heroes” Thread.

Occasionally, on Both the American Heroes Thread and on the Jerusalem thread, I am called upon to exorcise a troll or two. It would seem that the closer one gets to the target, the more flack one receives.

God Bless you, y’all rock.

For our God, thank you for our many blessings.

For our FRiends, thank you for our many blessings.

We are sustained by both, and your kindness knows no bounds.

The thread was favorite western songs, and then he had to get personal.
How does his story about his father, or his bible quote, relate to that?
What don’t you understand about “off-point”?
Unlike some, I have a business to run, so I cannot park on my computer in mom’s basement all week.

The Canteen is a well established, peaceful retreat where like-minded FRiends and patriots gather to share their time — a FRellowship if you will.

BTW, the titles normally begin with “FReeper Canteen”, so the nature of the thread is obvious. In this case, it was at the end of the thread.

The Canteen is a daily thread, posted every day since 10/7/01.
Regardless of the subject post on any day, our mission is the same....

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of
our military and our allies military
and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

Once again, if you don’t like it, don’t read it.
I happen to be a Veteran of the Army, I also happen to be a father of 6, grand father of 3, am 57 years old and run my own business. So I don’t know who you were talking about sitting in Mom’s basement playing on the computer.

Where have you been on FR since the beginning of the Canteen? Is this your first visit and throwing a temper tantrum like a child? I challenge you to go back day after day, year after year and see how often I have posted Our Daily Bread. Try every day and very rarely have I missed one. So to show up, throw a childish hissyfit and complain about something I have been doing here on the daily canteen thread is ludicrous. Go play some place else, or just keep your trap shut.

Who’s throwing the tantrum? I didn’t get personal about this, you did. Just because I don’t throw my service record at you doesn’t mean I don’t have one. I was respectful in tone, even to now. The thread was about western music. Your post did not mention music, nor western music. Therefore off point. Tell us your father’s favorite, or yours, make it a personal story about you and him, I’m fine with that and would find it enlightening, even charming.
I’m a little older than you, so my service began in 1971.
