Chris Christie Signs 10 Gun Bills Into Law
Freebeacon ^

Posted on 08/08/2013 6:40:19 PM PDT by Red in Blue PA

New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie signed 10 pieces of gun legislation into law Thursday.

Christie, widely seen as a probable GOP candidate for president in 2016, signed off on the slate of bills, most of which were non-controversial, while leaving five more contentious bills still awaiting his signature or veto.

One of the new laws will disqualify any person on the federal terrorist watch list from obtaining firearms identification cards or permits to purchase handguns.

“To the extent that this bill will keep guns out of the hands of known terrorists, or those who have taken active steps to support terrorist activities, my signature on this bill represents my commitment to keeping the citizens of New Jersey safe,” Christie said in a signing statement. “Our diligence against terrorism must never fade.”

Civil liberties advocates have criticized the watch list for its secrecy. The list is not public, nor can one petition to have his name removed from it. There were about 420,000 names on the watch list as of 2011. It has swollen to nearly 900,000 as of this year.

I like Christie’s ability to mix it up with reporters and his quick repartee. However, he has shown himself to be a true rino and his anti 2nd Amendment positions will cause me to never vote for him. I will vote libertarian or Constitution Pary if Christie gets the nomination.

Just one more imbecile that thinks there’s such a thing as reasoned gun legislation.

Guess what your moron Christie, crooks don’t abide by the law.

Cheese whiz! Who knew?

These laws invariably create hurdles the law abiding citizens have to navigate to exercise their own rights.

He just couldn’t resist jumping the shark!

2. Worth repeating if it will help to protect us against that RINO as nominee in 2016.

I have a lot of flexibility on some issues, but the Second Amendment is an absolute. Christie failed that test (again). In 2012, the GOP settled on my very last choice, and I worry they will do the same for the next election.

I held my nose and voted for Dole, McCain and Romney. I always thought people were crazy when they said they were staying home. Well, now I am there.

I am sick of voting for people who have absolutely nothing in common with me. The 2A is my litmus test and most modern RINO’s fail miserably. I will not hold my nose again.

“One of the new laws will disqualify any person on the federal terrorist watch list from obtaining firearms identification cards or permits to purchase handguns.”

Noncontroversial!!! Only a complete violation of the Second Amendment without any due process.

When “gun crime” skyrockets, like an actual gun commits a crime, what will be his lardness do then? Make a Krispy Kreme run to calm his nerves? Like it really matters.

How about a law for “political crime”? Like that would stop a blood sucking politician, sorry for redundant words, from doing a law that violates the people they were elected to serve. You know a “SERVANT” of the people, not a master of the slave.

Doesn’t matter as since 1789 we have all been slaves on the plantation serving the elected. Ha Ha!

I am just humbled that I was blessed to be born in the South. We do have room for the displaced and freedom loving northerners who know in their heart that freedom is the answer not northern slavery.

would institute background checks for all private gun sales and require all prospective gun owners to attend a gun safety training class.

Does that for my son to inherit or give him my firearms he's exempt? I'm guessing the fine print says so.

One of the new laws will disqualify any person on the federal terrorist watch list from obtaining firearms identification cards or permits to purchase handguns.

There's little or no due process involved in getting on (or off) that list. So how is infringing on someone's civil rights because they're on some goobermint fantasy list (or enemies list) "non-controversial"?

The GOP Establishment NEVER gets this. They think we have nowhere to go. You’d think they’d learn the lesson we keep teaching them and teaching them and teaching them over and over again. Conservatives will STAY HOME rather than vote for a RINO.

But please don’t just stay home and not vote at all. There’s other races down ballot than just president, with conservative candidates who need our supportt.

Not surprising, Laz. Christie consistently demonstrates his decisions aren't made with any forethought as to long-term consequences. He appointed a Muslim judge, he sung the praises of Obama within hours of his visit to the Sandy ravaged shore without Obama having even demonstrated any real definitive help and he obviously can't even consider the negative consequences of what he shovels into his own mouth.

In short, he's a blowhard.
